Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Could have done with bed side tables.
This was an overnight stop on the way to the Scottish Highlands. Location was good for this. Room was adequate. Evening meal was reasonable and breakfast good. Staff helpful and good service.Did not go out of the hotel so couldn't say what area was like in so far as shops and restaurants.

The annex room 65 was very good but I don’t like climbing into a bath for a shower prefer a walk in shower

Everything in relation to the property was good. However, due to a large coach party staying at the same time, there were issues with the food at dinner. The waiting staff were very good and apologised, I believe the kitchen was having problems

Breakfast was ok, though I would have prepared a buffet. The coffee was a little too strong for me, it would have been nicer to have a choice.

Older building so the floors were a bit noisy and the fire doors banging was noticeable but not too bad.
Great location for exploring locally around Bo’ness or Edinburgh. Can get train to Glasgow also from Linlithgow station. Very helpful and professional staff that went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Good quality food in the restaurant for breakfast and all other mealtimes. Good sized room with very comfortable bed. Very reasonable price.

Paint on the ceiling peeling off, gave the cot to the wrong room when requested in advance, brown stains on the bathroom floor, mattress really uncomfortable
The breakfast was very good with lots of options. The room was clean especially towels bed linen and the cleanliness of the bathroom

No one at Reception when we arrived we had to go looking for someone. Mix up with Booking.com and duplicate payment taken, all sorted eventually.
Nice hotel, very quiet, large car park, good location. Staff very friendly, rooms are large but would have preferred a bath. Bar and dining areas very nice and menu was good. Dog friendly hotel.

Car parking was full when we arrived and we needed to park our car on the street nearby. There was an intermittent noise outside the room all night because of a working boiler or some other device, which made the stay not so comfortable. The bed was quite narrow.
Breakfast was very good. The bathroom and the shower were very good. The room was clean.

It was fine but it could be a lot better with relatively little effort.
If you need a hotel for Bo'ness, this will be it - it's the only one. It's close to the 909 from Edinburgh bus stop, which is handy, but you may not enjoy walking back uphill to the hotel from the lower town. It's perfectly adequate but a little chaotic - no reception before 9am, catering & service variable. Some staff members were terrific but one felt management more by its absence than its utility. The restaurant is serviceable and you are likely to need it if you are staying in the early part of the week. The Corbie Inn is the only other reliably open sit-down eatery in walking distance of an evening, though happily it is a friendly place with decent food.

No lift/elevator - I had 2 suitcases and it was difficult getting them up and down the stairs as there is no concierge.

Room wasn’t spotlessly clean, some dirt and what looked like food crumbs on the window ledge.
