Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Room was very small for a couple. Limited space around the bed and toilet was totally seperate to wash basin and shower room

Some of the staff were quite rude and quite distrusting which put a dampers on our stay somewhat as we also had family join us for dinner.
The location, generous size bathrooms and lovely food.

The room was a bit tight on space and I wish I'd asked for a room at the back. Still, we didn't spend too long in the room so it was fine in the end.
Nice location in a quiet road and close to the river. Fabulous towpath walks. Very helpful staff and a good breakfast . Nice pub atmosphere and good to see the restaurant was popular.

The room temperature was very cold when we returned at night, it's an old building so maybe we should have forseen this and ramped up the temperature before we left for the evening. The walls in the bathroom were starting to flake from the moisture of the shower and bath. The location of our room is great but if you're planning a late lie in, be warned that you can hear people entering the bar / restaurant area so it isn't the quietest room.
The room and bed was large enough to be comfortable. The bathroom was equally as large with an impressive bath and great shower. The room we were in was above the main bar / restaurant area so very accessible from those areas. The bar and restaurant are well presented and the morning breakfast was lovely. The location on the river if very lovely and although the weather didn't quite allow for us to sit out there for long it would be beautiful in the summer.

Evening meal was mildly disappointing. We had the two roast Sunday dinners. One slightly chewy slice of beef and a slice of pork that was almost half fat, cut away and discarded on mine. There was no sign of the crackling listed on the menu, or of apple sauce which I was offered on ordering and the “roast” potatoes were pale and not crispy. Expensive for what it was. Disturbed some time after 11pm by large group of loud young people in the corridor, the same people woke us before 5.30am returning to the hotel, swearing and laughing. The night porter tried to quiet them, without success. I was told this is not their usual type of customer, which I believe as the location isn’t exactly teeming with that kind of nightlife!
Lovely helpful staff, clean comfortable room and a great choice of different breakfasts. So nice not to be restricted to just “full English”. Pleasant location, though a high windowsill in the room meant you had to stand to see the “garden view” and river beyond. I imagine that on warm evenings you would get noise from the patio area below during pub opening hours.

My evening meal was a little disappointing. Seabass was fine, risotto all peas and very little rice..

The room and bathroom sized. The absence of a razor/electric toothbrush point.
The breakfast menu was good and we found there was sufficient on offer to suit our particular dietary requirements. We found our room to be too small for comfort and the bathroom uncomfortably tiny.

Mixed seating, so our group of adults were surrounded by children and babies, quite noisy, kids in and out of the door to garden next to us Room was tiny, toilet so close to shower door, was difficult to manoeuvre. Tiny window high up so felt quite claustrophobic. I really was disappointed with the room I had. My friend paid less and had a much nicer room with view. Expected something much nicer for £120 for 1 adult

The room was quite compact but I was on my own for just one night so it didn't bother me. If there were two of us for longer we would have struggled a bit

The superior room was above the bar so really noisy plus cleaners in at 2am! The heating in the room was very temperamental, either cold or boiling hot.
Superior room was a decent size and really loved the stand alone bath and big shower plus very large and comfy bed. Breakfast was really tasty, freshly cooked to order.

The room was nice and well catered. The pub/restaurant had a very nice atmosphere and decent drinks and food options. The staff were friendly. The car park was more than big enough.
