Hot water took a long time to make it to the 4th floor.

Great location. Nice big room with beach view. Magnificent period staircase. The slightly faded grandeur is reflected in the price. Staff very agreeable. On street parking nearby.

Some obvious maintenance issues but overall really nothing we did not like, except for dogs being permitted to stay in some of the rooms and coming to breakfast with their owners (though not in the main dining room).

Just love this hotel. We stayed here last year and returned for a longer stay this year. The sea view rooms are really large by modern standards, and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast in the olde world dining room is lovely, with full views of the beach, and very friendly, helpful staff. If you like old fashioned grandeur, a bit worn around the edges and the feeling of having stepped back in time, this hotel is for you.

St Leonard's iconic hotel, designed to be located in the best place

2 items listed as being available were not actually provided: biscuits and slippers. Not a big issue, but in my view the room should be at least as advertised. As documented, car parking limited, but streetside is free, but space may be a bit of a walk away and up the hill.

I chose a room with a sea view, and that is exactly what you got, a full sea view, as the promenade is just across the road Self Service Cooked Breakfast buffet, was very good, and the dining room also has the sea view. Restaurant staff respectful, kind and helpful. Dinners were also very good. Nice quality shampoo and gel. Iconic hotel where Queen Victoria stayed as well as other royals in the heart of the Burton, the architect's, St Leonard's with lovely park behind and seafront in front

Dinner was really disappointing. Everything was pre-prepared or reheated, and it was very far from the quality we would expect for the price we were charged. Chips were burned, fajitas dry, fruit crumble raw. We'd have had a better meal at Wetherspoons. It's a shame. We work in Hastings regularly and love this hotel - we've also had great meals in the hotel restaurant before, so it was very unexpected to have such an awful dinner. I don't think the chef we've met on previous occasions can possibly have been there that night. He clearly cared about the food he was presenting, and whoever was in charge that night clearly didn't. In fairness to the hotel, we didn't complain at the time. We should have, but we were grieving the death of a close friend and just didn't have the mental energy. We were sad anyway, and a good dinner wouldn't have changed that - but it really would have helped.

Lovely big room and a friendly welcome at Reception. Great to have a restaurant on site, but we would hesitate before eating there again.

Our family room was spotlessly clean, but there were a lot of stains across the carpet which made the room feel dirty.

All of the staff were excellent and delivered great customer service. It was my birthday during our stay and my wife had arranged for bucks fizz at breakfast as a surprise. The staff reserved a table for us and decorated it with birthday confetti and balloons, and served us tea / coffee at the table as soon as we arrived. After breakfast, they brought out some lovely carrot cake with cream and a candle and sang me happy birthday - my wife hadn't arranged this part, they did it under their own volition and it was a really lovely thing for them to do.

Hotel smelt fusty, so did bedroom. Can understand to renovate such a vast building would be of aa horrendous cost. Seaview room windows not of sufficient quality to keep the noise and battering of the weather outside. The flat roof had a right knock up for cable supports to the outside lights. not a good sight.

First room allocated had what looked like a double camp bed! Requested a change of room and duly obliged. Bed ok and bathroom good. Receptionist, breakfast staff good. Breakfast was of a good standard.

Perfect location on the sea front. A very grand hotel in its day. Our bedrooms were very big. There was a fridge in the room which we weren’t expecting.

Liked very much my suite 203. The view and light is fantastic. The bed sits comfortably in the bedroom, indeed the bed was very comfortable. BUT the adjoining room has no idea what it is offering or should be offering. The sofa iis tiny and drab, not exactly a comfortable spread out for the watching of the television placed the other side of the room. One would rather be cosily in bed watching a TV fixed to the corner wall of the bedroom. The point of the adjoining room should be addressed. What does it offer. What should it offer. A work space. A large attractive sofa bed. A larger table in the window fir eating. Shame the windows can’t be cleaned, beautiful light unfortunately highlights the dirtiness but i don’t see how they can be cleaned as gone are the days when window cleaners stood on a window ledge! All said i very much look forward to returning 7/8 June for my daughter’s wedding in Hastings.

Fried egg was like rubber. Tomatoes raw. Bacon another sheet of rubber.

The rooms do require some modernisation - especially the squeaky floors and outdated windows which provide very little soundproofing against the outside traffic. No parking at the hotel.

Beautiful location right next to the beach with an unusual interior design. Breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of dishes on offer. Staff are attentive and helpful. There are a lot of highly rated restaurants very close by for delicious evening meals.
