Close to Highclere Castle - comfy and convenient

We paid for a comfy room but in essence it was a snug room for more money although we had the 'benefit' (?) of the 'honesty bar'! it is a pity the staff were not honest with us as the booklet stated an array of items available but we had a tray which contained two small tubs of pringles and a packet of salami! We mentioned this when we went for dinner as did not wished to be charged for items we had not used - only to be told they were aware as there was a supply issue. there was also a lack of staff members but those who served us were polite, Lovely ensuite only let down by the output from the supposed rain shower head. Having said that we had a pleasant night's stay.

Great location after spending day at Highclere castle and easy free parking! The room was snug but suited our purpose and the bed was nice and comfy. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was pleasant and not too crowded. My pulled pork and leek pie was very tasty especially with the extra gravy I requested. For breakfast there was a good selection and a good menu. The cooked food set us up for the day ahead.

We stayed here the night before visiting Highclere Castle. Literally two minutes drive to the castle ground’s entrance.

Not enough staff on, the one that was, was lovely but she was checking people in and out, running the bar, ordering the food.

Very close to Highclere Castle. It states on the website that it’s within walking distance but tbh it would be a bit of a trek, ok if weather nice but definitely not 400mtr away or even a 15 min walk.

We went to visit Highclare castle It is literally 10 min drive 25 min walk The property is a pub and B&B the price is excellent for such a good position to visit many places. Room 107 was comfortable and ensuite was fine with excellent shower. We had a meal there on Sunday evening (7TH) And despite it being busy, food was fine and arrived quicker than we thought it would. I have to mention Amy who despite being really busy made sure we had everything we needed, and has a wonderful sense of humour . Would definitely stay the again .

    Everything was fine

We were visiting Highclere Castle that evening and arrived at lunchtime and had an excellent meal before checking in. Claire the waitress that served us was exceptional along with food. We met Amy at check-in and she couldn't be more helpful. We found the whole team to be polite and very professional. The food was excellent and our whole trip was a memorable one.

The rooms were tired and we kept being told they were going to be renovated If this is the case maybe the price should have reflected a little more The full ashtrays outside as we walked through didn’t look so good !!

The pub had a nice feeling about it. And although I didn’t have a dog it was so dog friendly which was lovely to see Clean bedding and room Breakfast was nice

The shower was very tiny, and was the only uncomfortable part. Our room was not cleaned the next day. The night manager was very accommodating and did the cleaning himself.

The food was amazing, and the room was cosy and comfortable.

Room was very tired and a bit worn. I understand that they will be renovated in January which I think is long overdue. If the accommodation had been already renovated I would have scored it a 10.

Amy was extremely helpful and assisted us with taxi booking etc. The other staff were also very competent, friendly and helpful. The bar is very nice and the food was also very good.

Sadly it was in need of a maintenance overall. We had to change rooms as the bathroom door would not close and by examination, never did. The new room was comfortable but the shower, however, was impossible to turn off completely and dripped all the time. Large water stains on the wall in the bedroom. Disappointed in the daily cleaning of the bathroom and non making of the bed on one occasion. The breakfast on the first morning was good, other 2 mornings there was no tables laid when we arrived and we had to find our own knives and forks and napkins. The bar area tables always seemed to sticky and were not wiped down regularly.

It was a comfortable and welcoming hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable.
