Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomCar parking is at a public carpark 100 yards away, it's okay, but a bit inconvenient if the weather is poor.
The room is excellent, large and well appointed. Nicely furnished with a really lovely carpet. The bathroom is large, warm and well equipped and has a big walk in shower. The restaurant is good, breakfast is splendid!

United KingdomBetter space in room and price
The location was amazing, the room was very nice, small but nice. We had a nice big wet room and then a bath in the bedroom which wasn’t necessary and took up too much space- a nice table and chair would be a better use of the space. The food in the pub was excellent but overall stay was a bit overpriced, paid £225 a night £150/60 would have been a fairer price.

United KingdomThe floorboards on the whole bedroom creaked and cracked every where you walked. It was serious. The room next door either side was the same as you can hear people walking about and even just going to the loo during the night waking you up. Totally unacceptable as they advertise as 5*. One weird thing is that there were dark shaded lights suspended from the ceiling over the beside tables but no actual bedside light which meant you had to get out of bed and go to the main light switch by the door to switch off (or on) a light by the side of the bed. Weird. The radiator valve was completely broken off and so we could not turn the radiator off plus we were unable to open the small door as it was raining very heavy and the carpet would have got wet. We stayed with a small dog and we were so hot during the night. Also the shower dripped all night and we were unable to stop it. Overall not a great stay.
The food was very good. The king prawns were excellent. Breakfast was well set out with fresh fruit and a choice of full English. Service was really good and staff friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe restaurant was disappointing - overpriced; and staff whilst friendly were young and not well trained in service etiquette. Accepting The Joiners is dog friendly very happy to see in the bar did not appreciate the volume of hounds in the restaurant whilst eating! It somewhat spoilt the ambiance and occasion for us.
Great little bolthole in Northumberland. Very comfortable room which didn't feel as if it was above a pub and was pure escapism. Nice little touches like chocolate and shortbread which were replenished daily. Great breakfast choices and made with quality local produce.

The staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived. We came for our mini moon and stayed in The Tweed room with the added bonus of a hot tub and outside space which was great. We were kindly gifted a bottle of prosecco which was a nice added touch. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and the meal we had there was lovely. Would highly recommend.
