Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumNothing about the property, the walk towards the property we were not prepared :) its an uphill climb from the train station so if you have a luggage, it will be a bit of a climb :)
Everything about this property is excellent. Very cozy and relaxing. So close to the cathedral and the palace. The local restaurants nearby are a plus. Breakfast is delivered to your door in the morning. Staff is excellent and hospitable.

United KingdomWhen we arrived were greeted at the car park and shown where to park, the booking in was smooth and friendly with all the information that we needed for our stay, shown to our room that was fabulous. Croissants were great to get up too, the hair dryer overheated in the morning we let the lady know on the way out for the day and came back to a new hairdryer in our room fantastic service from start to finish of our stay, The location could not have been better, have already recommended to several friends and family

United KingdomThe standard double room was a little cramped, as was the en-suite shower room, which lacked places to put things. There wasn't a dining or proper sitting area to meet up as a group.
The location was excellent: close to the cathedral and castle and restaurants and shops in that area. On-site parking was available. The room was quiet and comfortable, spotlessly clean, and had all the amenities you needed. The reception desk staff were friendly and helpful. The croissants provided for breakfast were fresh and tasty. The arrangement with Bells tearoom to provide cooked breakfasts worked well

United KingdomUnique and beautiful hotel! It was really magical staying here. The church has been well preserved and it has been tastefully decorated inside to make it feel modern and comfortable, but to keep its old world charm. Spotlessly clean rooms, great shower, comfy bed and lovely breakfast in the morning. Self check in was simple and quick. Location is brilliant! Less than 5 minute walk from the centre, but tucked away up the hill so it’s peaceful and feels almost remote.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing.
Very quiet, attractive and comfortable accommodation in an excellent location near to cathedral and castle. Loved the little touches which made it a special stay: the courtesy call before arrival, warm croissants and yogurt delivered to your door at a time specified by yourself, fresh milk, orange juice and water in the mini fridge. Highly recommend The Old Palace Lodge.

United KingdomA great location for exploring the historical area of Lincoln. Close to eateries , I headed left down to town but actually realise I could have turned right towards the cathedral and there were plenty individual shops and places to eat and drink, especially if you don't want to climb the steep hill afterwards.

United KingdomNot enough room in our bedroom to have our continental breakfast on the table, a lap tray would help.
Great location, with a few minutes walk to the cathedral, castle and shops on Steep hill. The continental breakfast was tasty and beds very comfortable. The fridge in the room was stocked well with a jug of fresh milk, orange juice, and water this was replenished every morning.
