We had an extremely enjoyable weekend - The Star was ideal for Blenheim Palace where we had tickets for the Christmas Market and Light Show. Staff are extremely welcoming and attentive and can't do enough for you. Accommodation very good also - spacious, clean and welcoming bedroom and excellent bathroom facilities.

Really cosy, warm, clean, excellent location. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I come to stay in Woodstock quite a lot and by far this is the best place I’ve stayed. Will definitely stay again on my next visit.

the staircase to the rooms is steep and winding so care is needed if you have mobility issues. An alternative access via the fire escape is significantly easier.

The bar and the room were amazing. We went to take some pre-wedding pictures ourselves and we could take a ton of wonderful pictures not only in the Blenheim palace but also in the room as it was very pretty. I was lucky to book this room in a discount price and was very satisfied by the stay. The bar is also very cozy and well-decorated. It was easy to reach pretty much all the places in the town as well. I recommend this place for any couple trip.

Inevitably as the Star is a pub, there is noise and music coming from the bar; it stopped at 1140pm on the first night and 1205 am on the second night so not ideal if you have work in the morning

Nothing not to like, just be mindful of the very, very steep winding staircase to climb going to the rooms. With heavy luggage it’s a bit tricky, but it’s an old building so you have to accept that!

The stairs that lead up to the rooms are a bit risky but fine when you take enough caution. A bit more variety with the meals would be good especially breakfast. of course it shouldn’t change the feel of an old Inn stay
