We had two rooms at this hotel -a cosy room for my friend (a lone traveller) and a superior for my husband and I. In both rooms, the decor was absolutely delightful. The beds were really comfortable. We had a drink in the bar and an early evening meal in the restaurant- perfect on both counts. I am currently living with an untreatable illness and cannot eat a full sit down meal. The staff in the restaurant accommodated all my strange requests - empty plate, just ordering a side dish as a mains etc. No fuss, no questions. We are just about to book again for an overnight in December - great hotel that meet all my needs. Thank you.

Really hot room during our stay even after radiators were turned off and windows wide open

Really lovely hotel. Furnished to a high standard. Room great size & quiet. Breakfast was plentiful. Restaurant was furnished nicely and the meals were very nice. Location was in the High Street & surrounded by lots of lovely little shops. Walking distance for most attractions.

Wet wooden stairs to room 27 but we found another way to circumvent the stairs

The only thing I would like to point out is, George and Rye have not parking so we were asked to park at the Cattle Market parking in town, I was allowed to pay for the parking however on the day of our departure, we had been blocked in by the Market and had to kill 3 hours before we could drive to our next destination. I did not see any signs for the Weds market and was able to pay for the parking.

Our room was amazing, the décor, comfort and cleanliness were fantastic. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and immaculately run. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were also superb!! I will highly recommend The George in Rye, and in fact did, as a passer-by asked me what it was like as we were leaving. 👌

Whilst it did not impact us, this is probably not the best hotel to choose if disabled in any way given the building architecture. Otherwise nothing not to like!

Delightful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Super location in this medieval town and has maintained the history in a very good way, ensuring modern convenience without losing the historic charm. Will definitely book again. Might have had a problem if

The room was on the Main Street so a little noisy and bar service and sitting down for breakfast was slow.

Gorgeous hotel. Loved the different locations for drinking and eating. Very cosy and pretty in October. Loved our room number 38 which was big, lovely bath and shower. Bed was comfy and lovely food & drink.

Welcoming hospitality. Amazingly comfortable VISpring beds. Wonderful breakfasts. Excellent evening meals. We really couldn't fault The George in any way.

First encounter with staff member on reception wasnt too pleasant, she was not very welcoming at all. However, she left reception and a lovely assistant took over, very helpful, didnt take her name but she had beautiful red hair. Had to request lighter bedding as duvet too hot. Had to change rooms on arrival as first room had very low beams and low door. My husband injured his head on door frame

Just the breakfast staff were a little rude

The most comfortable bed. Fantastic bath. Staff at breakfast were a little rude and we waited sometime for them to take our order. Apart from that everything was very good

Our room was comfy but tired with rather dull décor! Photo of the room looked so much brighter and fresher. I found the restaurant uncomfortably hot.

Location, unique features throughout hotel! Great food! Fabulous coffee and homemade shortbread! Restaurant staff friendly and helpful.

Our bathroom was on basement level therefore floor ice cold. Floor heating could been the solution but unfortunately couldn’t see one.

The Wine menu bar list was very different to what was available on 'tap' , the barman did not appear to have any knowledge of what wines were what when trying to establish what was available. The room was quite noisy throughout the night as it was close to the kitchens and the extractor fans were constantly running, unfortunately not a great night sleep
