Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bed had no headboard so it was not comfortable to sit in to watch tv or be propped up while sleeping. I would have preferred shampoo in the bathroom and not just body gel. Also I did not like the old fashioned Italian wall mount hairdryer. Not deal breakers though.
Beautiful hotel in a great location for sightseeing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is fantastic! Large amount of food choices and all delicious. Great coffee too. Our room was in the tower annex which was interesting. The room was large and clean. Bathroom was large and nice. Plenty of counter space. Overall hotel stay was very pleasant and I would recommend. Hotel had bikes for guests and that was nice for riding up on the wall.

I can't think of a single thing that could have been improved on.
Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and very professional. The room was perfect for a one night stay and the location was exceptional. It was the "little extras" that made this place remarkable; the free cafeteria, the complimentary prosecco etc. We would never consider anywhere else in Lucca should we require accommodation there again.

We have stayed here before, so we really like the convenience of the location within the walls, especially so as one of us was heavily pregnant this time! Reception staff very helpful and spoke to us in clear Italian so we could practice our Italian - not everyone will do this as it’s easier for them to switch to English. Good breakfast.

Great location in the city but on a quiet street. Free prosecco every day 5-7pm. Coffee machine and complimentary snacks during the day. Good outdoor space for relaxing in the sun or shade. Lovely breakfast.

Nothing in particular, cramped showers may be a problem for obese guests.
Excellent location, great breakfast, friendly staff, 5-7pm availability of free prosecco and all day availability of coffee and tasty snacks made it special to return to the hotel after an excursion

Wonderful hotel made very specially by a free glass of Prosecco every evening and snacks available during the day. Lovely roof terrace to sit and read. Everything was great about the hotel

Rooms - small but adequate.
Location great within city walls - excellent breakfast - complimentary coffee in the foyer all day. Complimentary cava at 5 pm. Helpful staff who recommended a nearby restaurant which was excellent. I would return.

Rooms are a bit small and on the dark side, with not a lot of storage space.
A wonderful hotel: great location, very friendly staff (at the reception and at breakfast), the "happy hour" with prosecco and free coffee/tea and snacks all day were much appreciated. There are even bikes available for free, though they are not very well maintained. Breakfast is very big and diverse.

Room B shower wouldn't warm up just after 7am but did after around 8.30am which was disappointing
The lady on reception, the breakfast and the aperitivo from noon until 7pm. Also a lovely lady at breakfast

Difficult to drive to hotel if not familiar with Lucca's car restrictions. Does not have much parking.

Great location, 10 mins walk from the station. The hotel and rooms are newly refurbished and we arrived on their first day of reopening. Staff are super friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable, and the breakfast excellent. They also offer some free drinks between 5-7pm. Would highly recommend staying here - you won’t be disappointed.

I guess the upgraded room was accessible for wheelchairs so the toilet was higher, that's all.

The range and variety of food on offer for breakfast could be a little wider. Hotel slippers would have been a lovely touch.
Lovely and welcoming staff. Excellent location and facilities. The room (and bathroom) was spacious and comfortable for our short stay.
