The hotel is more for the local as the staff in the hotel can hardly communicate in English having hard time to ask for instructions and recommendation of restaurants in Otaru.

The hotel is located at the hilltop which give a view of the Cliff and sea. The Breakfast is very good and portion is generous.

Lack of dining options. Tried to make reservation for breakfast and dinner during my two night stay but was always told the restaurant was fully booked. Maybe because of the Showa Day long weekend so we tried room service but this was available only between 8 to 9pm, not exactly an option. Hotel should have put in more effort to accommodate hotel guests, especially given its location away from the town centre. Ended up driving down to restaurant at the foot of the hill where hotel was sited although I was very reluctant to leave the hotel after driving for an entire day.. the owner of the restaurant asked if I was a guest of the hotel so I would imagine it was a problem faced by many other guests. In room temperature control was really bad.. It was so stuffy and hot on the second night that I could hardly sleep. Heater in the room wasn't even on and I had to open the window. All other hotels during our 2 weeks in Japan provide humidifier.. This is the only one that doesn't do so.

The in room open air bath and beautiful sea view. Bed was firm and comfortable but pillows are bad, providing virtually no support at all. It felt like resting your head on the mattress.

In general old style building and inconvenient approach from the Otaru city. I asked a message about the transportation in the morning but the reply came in the afternoon when I already took a taxi. It would be nice to send a message about the transportation service in advance

It would have been great if there were power outlets or USB charging ports near the beds. We had to charge our devices using the outlets near the ground just outside the bathroom and at the TV console. (That said, we recognise that the hotel was built and first opened in an era when devices that needed charging were non-existent!)

We really enjoyed the in-room onsen — the main reason we chose this hotel. Even though the view from the onsen was partially obstructed (stated upfront), it was still pretty lovely. Room was comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 3.

The hotel is in need of some update. It smell really old. With some refurbishment, this hotel has great potential.

It is at a hill. Very nice view and private bath in room. The staff are incredibly friendly as well. Made us feel welcome.

Even though the food was good, a little more freedom to choose the food would be nice, especially for breakfast.

The private bath is awesome and the location let's you see spectacular sunsets/sunrises. The public bath is small and really nice, relaxing and wasn't too busy.

The bedroom should have a window we can open. Centralized Aircon and we cannot adjust much. The part of the bedroom with beds and sofa were warm all the time.

Room is great and has a private onsen facing the sea and mountains..great view. The hotel is up on hilltop and many car parking lots which is very convenient.

Hotel was old. Architecture felt very outdated. Location was horrid. Its impossible to walk out. You need a cab or shuttle. Food is alright but nothing fantastic. But again, i came only for the private onsen.

Private onsen was very nice. Thats what drew me to this place. View wasnt great though. I was expecting more of an ocean view but it was too foggy. All i saw was the parking lot

The decor is certainly outdated, but the views and the experience of arriving at the hotel more than make up for this.

We booked an ocean-front room, but were upgraded upon arrival to a suite on the top floor. That was a welcome surprise, and we took full advantage of the views and private onsen bath. The staff do not speak much English, but they were very attentive and accommodating to my requests. A very good Japanese-style breakfast buffet was served.

The bed was too soft for me and I am getting neckache from the bed.

The view was amazing. The inroom bath was awesome. Facilities was great. The hotel was accommodative to our request of going anywhere using their shuttle transport.

The location of the hotel is a bit far from the center of the city which made it inconvenient

Did not care for the breakfast. The room was clean and the onsen in the room and public one was excellent. The scenery was wonderful. The free shuttle was also appreciated

The interior is very "old school" you could say, which isn't really my style. In general the furniture is pretty old. Also there was an issue with the shower in out room, there was only hot water, which made showering pretty much impossible.

The private Onsen with ocean view was a absolute highlight. The room was really spacious, the beds were comfy and and the bathroom was nice too.

The furniture in the room is a bit old.You may say vintage if you like European style.But it's clean. The in-room private onsen bath overlooking the Pacific Ocean makes it up.

Lobby had a strange smell. Maybe they just need to install extractor fans in the right place.

Wonderful breakfast. They track which day of your stay and changed the menu accordingly. Glad breakfast was part of the stay, as the food, view and service was above expectation. If ever in Otaru, will stay there again!

Amazing location with breathtaking views. Loved the hot spring in the room and the French cuisine is impeccable! Service staffs extending top notch hospitality!
