Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceThe size of the room was quite small - but it'd be unfair to blame the hotel on that, since it's very common in Japan. You just have to be aware of that reality.
I choosed the Kyoto Tower Hotel because of its super-convenient location. Besides, the breakfast buffet was a very good bonus (if you're not happy with its freshness and variety, you're just being impossible). The check in / check out process was smooth, quick and friendly. It satisfied my expectations.

SingaporeThe room was really stuffy and there wasnt any ventilation. Windows had to be open so that we can get some air flow at night but it was really noisy in the streets and it kept us up.
The location of the hotel was really good. Proximity to the train station made it very convenient and there were lots of food options around.

AustraliaEven though we were upgraded with our room to get into the bathroom it is quite a large step and is difficult to get in and out. Anyone elderly, or with bad knees/hips, would find it very difficult to use.
Upon arrival we found our rooms were quite small. In fact the toilet in our bathroom was on an angle and as a taller westerner my son found his knees hit the wall. The staff very kindly upgraded our room and it was exceedingly comfortable. Position was amazing, directly across from Kyoto Station. Once you work out the train stations it is surprisingly easy to get to wherever you need to go. Shrines and Shopping aplenty! Kyoto station has lights on the stairs that create quite a show.

AustraliaThe room smelled like a sewer (probably a previous guest had an upset stomach and had accident on the carpet), however, the staff were helpful and came and checked it— the next day, when another room became available, we moved and the new room was good. It would have been obvious to staff cleaning the first room that the smell was unacceptable and the room should have been taken out of service until the problem was rectified and we shouldn't have had to endure a night in that room.
The hotel was easy to find and located near to the train station and shops.

JapanI found the bed to be very hard. I prefer a soft bed, so sometimes it was difficult to sleep. Also, the pillows were very thin. As someone who sleeps on my side, it wasn't easy to get into a comfortable position due to these two factors.
The hotel is extremely centrally located across from Kyoto Station. This is where the buses and trains for most of Kyoto travel to/from. There are also lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The individual rooms include a double bed.

United KingdomCleaning wasn't great round the toilet seat, not much of a view from our window, not allow to open window unless emergency. A little bit out of date but acceptable for the price.
It's bigger than other Japanese hotel rooms we stayed in. Staff are nice and friendly. Perfect location for transport and shopping. Free luggage storage is a plus. Half price entrance to the 360 viewing tower above was a nice treat. Kettle in the room and separate drinking water tap is great for a cuppa in the room. Mini fridge and hair dryer.

United KingdomNothing.
We booked a twin room as these seemed larger, and were not disappointed. Large room with 2 wide single beds, desk and small table, view of station. Showing a few knocks but very clean and comfortable. Right next to station so getting busses and subway no problem, loads of shops and restaurants close at hand. We took up the offer of a discounted trip to the observation deck of the Kyoto tower. Staff were very helpful.
