The shower and sink area felt a little small for so many people, but all the guests were very thoughtful and it was not an inconvenience.

The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed immediately, and they had lots of advice on things to do around Matsumoto. It was very close to the station, and I could leave my luggage after checking out to enjoy the city one last time. The place is small and homelike, because of that, the kitchen and lounge would feel crowded if everyone uses it, so maybe it's better to eat out. There's a seven eleven really close and many good restaurants in the area around the castle.

the top room has a lot of daylight (cool) but no way of avoiding it (not that cool if you want to sleep past sunrise) also the place is cash only

the place is actually a big house! which is nice because it has less bureaucracy. the staff was really nice and even helped me using the washing machine (for free)

It was a bit cold everywhere but they provided a hot water bottle for the bed. The light in the room doesn't completely turn off when you switch it off, so it's still slightly light but I managed to sleep anyway.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The host has created a step by step guide to get to a ton of places and talks you through everything as well :) the staff will sit and talk to you generally and give you tips about things to do. The room was a good size, they provided toiletries and the shower was hot. They have a heated table in the common room. The location is great, it's close to the train and bus station, restaurants and shops. It's not far to walk to the castle and an Onsen.

The wood in our room was varnished that day so it had a strong fume smell throughout our stay. We notified the staff but all we could do was leave our room door open. It's quite a long way and a big staircase to the washroom from the double room upstairs.

Good to have a kitchen to make a hot drink . Beds comfy, great little heaters in each room. Good location to find from station and to walk around Matsumoto. Even provided hit water bottles to warm the bed at night :)

I'm not used to sleeping on a futon, so I was a little surprised by the thickness of the mattress. But overall I cannot complain

The hostel is located on the banks of a stream in a residential area. I particularly liked the receptiveness of the staff. They gave me tips on various things I could do in the city and the surrounding area. If I return to Matsumoto one day, I will definitely try to stay at this hostel again.

Staff was amazing! It was about to be a very cold night so they offered to put hot water bottles in the beds. Nothing better than coming back in the evening to a warm and cosy bed.

Mostly good experience, but the pillows were so thin they were basically non-existent, and the shower drained poorly.

Location was fantastic, close to all of the popular tourist sites in Matsumoto. We actually ended up staying at a partner property called Hanko Inn, as Matsumoto Backpackers was busy. The owner/staff easily facilitated the switch. The property itself was clean and quiet and we slept comfortably.

Great location in a small building not far from Matsumoto Station. This is a house converted into a hostel, so the dorm is downstairs along with the kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are two large private rooms upstairs and possibly one or two other private rooms downstairs.

They give you two white sheets, one to cover the bed and one to use under the duvet. It seemed like the actual sheets on the bed and duvet weren't washed and I saw some hair on it. I'd also appreciate a small lamp at each bed which was lacking.

The location is great ! very close to the station. The staff is very nice. They greet us even though we were check in quite late at night.

Unfortunately the bidet in the toilet is not working.and since it's nearby the railway, you might hear trains going around until about 11pm. It doesn't really bother me tho, but maybe if you are sensitive to sounds at night, you should bring your earplug. Also, unfortunately the pillow is a bit smelly at that time.

The hostels is close to the station, the dormitory is clean, as well as the toilet and shower. The staff is friendly and will be ready to help you out. The staff is a foreigner volunteer so you don't have to worry about language since he speaks english well. Overall, it was a nice stay.
