To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

United States of AmericaOur stay was marred by the refusal of the manager of the Japanese restaurant that was opened for breakfast on Sunday to seat us despite having availability. He directed us to go to the Western/Japanese buffet. Instead, we complained to the Reception Desk manager and he graciously walked us back to the Japanese buffet and "ordered" that manager to seat us. There were several empty tables when we were finally seated.
The staff at reception desk was excellent and courteous. The manager & service staff at the combination Western & Japanese buffet/restaurant were also welcoming and efficient. The selection of food choices were very good. The location of the hotel was very convenient to shops and stores.

United States of AmericaLocation was convenient to Ikebukuro Station West/South exit and Limousine Bus service to/from Narita and Haneda airports stop at hotel [be sure to check schedule for buses that stop at the Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro as some do not stop at the hotel and you will have to walk several minutes to the hotel from Ikebukuro Station--worth the wait for a limo bus that stops at the hotel]. Friendly, helpful English-speaking (and other languages) staff. Clean and quiet hotel room and provided refrigerator, daily bottle of water, large screen TV with international and local stations, pajamas, and bath amenities. Has a small convenience store in lobby area and Family Mart and Seven/Eleven nearby.Across the street from train station with major department stores (Tobu and Seibu Department Stores) and other shopping. Many places to eat in surrounding area.

AustraliaIt was a little expensive, but I suspect the time of year we chose to travel impacted the price.
Beautiful hotel right next to the Ikebukuro station and easy access to Yamanote line. Most hotels in Japan are reasonably small like this one, but this room was very spacious for the size. Very clean, lovely amenities and TV with streaming services to enjoy after a long day. Bathroom is compact but comfortable and very clean. We didn’t get the breakfast included but enjoyed the buffet for one morning. The food was delicious with lots of variety. Added bonus was the airport shuttle to Haneda airport, very reasonably priced and saved us a lot of time to catch our flight home. Would definitely stay again in future!
