Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaMy favourite accomodation on our whole trip to Japan. Most stunning views, the hotel staff were wonderful. We both have tattoos so booked the room with private bath but were also able to book the private onsen. We hired bikes to ride around and were able to leave them at the hotel.

United States of Americathe hotel is up on a hill that provides great views but the only negative was getting up and down the hill. We saw this in other reviews but went into it anyway. The hotel will provide transportation up and down the hill if requested. there is a road/path that goes along in front of the hotel that will take you to another part of fujikawaguchiko. it means walking further if you just want to get down the hill but it is a better walk. the inconvenience of the hill is worth the stay.
The room was absolutely gorgeous with a view of the lake and tatami style beds on the floor. this included an open-air tub and shower. breakfast, tea and happy hour were also included and were all superb. we stayed in Japan for a month and this was by far the best place that we stayed. we had some rainy periods but also had a beautiful day that the sky cleared and all of mt. fuji was visible.

United KingdomThe futon beds weren't that comfortable, especially the pillows
The bath in the terrace, the traditional Japanese rooms including yukatas. The food given with the afternoon tea the cocktails in the evening and for breakfast was great.

GermanyThe way to the hotel is indeed very steep. RECOMMENDATION: Take the way that passes Tenjoyamogokoku Shrine from the station to the hotel (this way will also be suggested by Google maps). It is walkable with suitcases, less steep and does not take longer.
Perfect stay.

SwitzerlandNothing.
Spacious and beautifully decorated Japanese style room with any amenities you could think of. Very quiet, comfy beds. We had a private Onsen in our room which we didn’t use as the public one was great. There was tea time in the afternoon and cocktails in the evening all free of charge. Breakfast had a variety of Asian and Western choices. The staff were very attentive and helpful. It’s a bit up the hill - however if you don’t like to walk there is a free shuttle from the train station and back.

New ZealandLoved everything.
Amazing hotel, we were greeted by lovely staff who held our baggage before the check in time. Hotel had private and public baths (men and women’s) that over looked the lake. Such a wonderful experience to have after our busy week in Tokyo. Room was very big with an incredible view of the lake. It was spotless and modern.

IsraelBreakfast is OK, nothing more. At eight o'clock the bread was already over. A bit strange for such a hotel. If you arrive by bus, there is a steep ascent on foot. But the hotel has a shuttle to and from the train station, which is convenient.
Great hotel. A huge room, with a Japanese sitting area in front of the lake view. A calm atmosphere. There are public and private hot tubs, in the open air facing the landscape. Located right next to the cable car that goes up to the view of Mount Fuji.

Australiacheck out is a bit early, at 10am
Such a lovely stay. Beautiful comfortable rooms with lovely yukatas and a private bathtub overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko. You can book a private onsen or use the public ones (they were happy for my to use it despite tattoos after 10pm and before 8am). They provide a free shuttle to the station from 2pm to 11am which is very convenient. Breakfast, tea and dinner is served with unlimited cocktail/alcohol served with an early dinner. And the spread was great too. The staff are also amazingggg It’s a small splurge but I would recommend it
