Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The walls were incredibly thin so it sounded like someone was coming into our room when they were going into the room next to us. Our AC didn’t work so I mentioned at the desk which they said would be sorted, it was slightly working that night but the night after was boiling.
The staff were very friendly and the room was nice.

The walls are made Of thin paper ! We can ear everything from both sides , and that’s was a bit annoying!!!! Felt like we were in the same room!!!
Reasonable size of the room! The tea bags and welcoming water was a very pleasant surprise!! The staff is very friendly!!!

Such a nice welcoming hotel, simple but clean and very comfortable rooms. Right near the metro which is a huge plus in Lisbon as there is a lot of hills and walking! A lovely quiet part of the city with lots of little restaurants and bars right near the hotel.

my room was near the lifts, and they were incredibly noisy. Each time a lift would go up or down there was a very loud noise of the cables, like friction or the cables rubbing against each other. Impossible to sleep with that noise.
I liked the location just on the other side of the street of a metro station

The hotel is starting to show its age compared to others in Lisbon at similar price points. The facilities were a bit older and in particular the bathroom didn't have a lot of space for toiletries etc.
The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff is very friendly.

There was no top sheet on the beds. Just a bottom sheet in the duvet. I have never been to a hotel that didn’t provide a top sheet. So if you were hot, you either had to have no blankets and be cold or have the duvet on and be hot.
Well located, clean spacious room, great staff.

Breakfast was good, but could have been more varied dailly. No smart tv. No working wifi in breakfast area.

Our Wifi wasn't the best - very poor reception.
We liked staying at the Hotel Alif Avenidas. It was in a good location and the staff was great and friendly. The towels are nice and thick and the room was comfortable.

The shower floor had quite some mold on the edges. The rest of the room was clean and proper. The pillows were a bit too hard for me, but that's a personal preference.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was also really good, next to metro and halfway between airport and old town.

This accommodation is located across the street from the Metro. While the hotel is all accessible with an elevator, note that the Metro near the hotel is stair access only. The hotel room had a comfortable bed and matched the photos. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.

.I could not do the ironing Body cream was not quite good
Location was pretty well. Room was nice. I miss something to do the ironing. Staff was lovely, I really recommend it because of that. Easy to park without any charge.

hot room. air conditioning not working properly.
The hotel a in general good but the air conditioning didnt work looked like it as working but it wasnt cooling the room. I dont like to sleep in a hot room or with thick duvets.

It states that it’s in the city centre but it’s not it’s half an hours walk away, location is quite and hotel is clean and comfortable.
Room was clean and comfortable breakfast was ok, as it was cold even the scrambled eggs were cold .
