The rooms were fairly clean, as expected however a bit of renovation is due. Based on the value for money this was expected. Location of the place is good, parking was free and the rooms were close together as desired.

Rooms and fittings were probably 40 years in need of renovation. Housekeeping only every second day and as breakfast not included, you need to pay at property as there are no alternatives nearby. Waited one hour for an evening meal and it arrived very cold! Waiter not helpful and so I returned it to restaurant, but still paid in full.

There should be separate light switches for the some area and the shower/toilet area. Every time used bathroom during the night, everyone woke up because of the bright light that was caused.

The hotel was fine, reasonable restaurants in close proximity. Not far from downtown Hilo, near shopping opportunities. Not really good location for activities or beaches.

The ‘standard’ room we originally booked overlooked the broken down abandoned hotel next door so we were told we’d need to pay $35 extra to upgrade for a better view (We felt like we had to). The ice machine on our floor had been pulled out and a messy broken hole in the wall left behind. Although we couldn’t smell it, I am very sensitive to mold/mildew and so my sinuses were a bit upset but I expected that (since it’s Hawaii) so brought an air purifier so I could sleep.

Location is fantastic. On the water, next to the park. You can watch the kids jump into the ocean. Convenient to downtown and the Airport. Our ocean front room had a lovely view and the hotel, although not new, has a nice feel to it.

Food options are limited and are either pricey (on property) or off property. The pool is simple. No hot tub.

They wanted to charge me 5$ a night for a microwave. So Tacky . I said no. What a petty way to treat your guests. I went without rather than go along with this nonsense.

Most of the staff were amazing, except young lady at the Front Desk who checked me out. I was horrified with her check out procedure. On checkout I asked her for my print out to double check the charges before she processed my card (not that I even I had to, do as its a standard). She handed me the receipt for me to sign, as she had processed my card. I pointed out I didnt want my card charged and I had actually asked for her a print out first. She went on to school me that I was getting my printout, and she didnt see what the issue was. I found myself apologising to her and over explaining myself, on something that was clearly her mistake. She did not apologise to me. I told her have had many experiences when other peoples tabs and charges were added to my bill. She rolled her eyes, pulled faces multiple times as I was explaining. I escalated the exchange to the Front Desk Manager who was amazing and handled my complaint well. It was a shame to end a beautiful stay this way, where other staff members were an absolute delight.

A very peaceful hotel in a great quiet location. Seaview room was lovely and room size was comfortable.

Tried to check in early. Room not ready. Told to check back in 1 1/2 hrs. Waited longer than that. No room yet. 2 1/2 hrs. No room yet. 10 minutes before their check in time. No room yet. Offered me a different room and I took it due to frustration. No I'm sorry, no nothing.

Policy of not cleaning rooms unless guests stay for 3 nights. Rooms seem a bit outdated. Lot of noise from the popular park adjacent to the hotel.

Had all the usuals for a big hotel - restaurant on site, swimming pool. Location is ok. One of the few big hotel options in Hilo, the other two also being on the same (Banyan Drive) road.

lots of weird people around the area who makes noise with their cars and I don’t know what it was but sounds like gunfire till around 2-3 am
