Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaBreakfast sandwich was not good at all. English muffin was hard and brittle. Pre-pandemic meals were very satisfying. The room was too pricey even with a spa bath and view of the ocean. Should offer AAA or AARP discounts.
Pancakes were delicious. Good choice of juices and pastries. Small refrigerator was added to our room upon request. Also a desk chair. Spa bath was delightful. Room view was breathtaking.

United States of AmericaNo elevator. They were eager to carry luggage if asked, but the inn is only fully accessed using stairs.
Location right on the coast, but an inn of older design so only half the rooms get an ocean view. Although an older property it offered a timeless charm and appeal. Staff were universally friendly and helpful. They are working out some kinks in their food service caused by consequences of the pandemic and not unique to this property. Our room had instant hot water in the shower.

The location was amazing and so was the staff I really liked the downstairs theater as well and the view by the ocean of course. But the breakfast choices were a little strange not much selection. The rooms were very small no water sprinkler for fire safety, no phone in the room, the bed was lopsided, and there were some stains on our towels and bedding. But overall We really did enjoy our stay and we would go there again.

United States of AmericaThey have kept the charm of the older building. Great eating outside on the big porch, going in the salt water pool, good music playing, and good artwork. Air conditioning good, and enjoyed having coffee available in the hallway.

United States of AmericaDidn’t realize we’d need a car! Car rentals were so expensive even for two days that we decided to take a Lyft from Boston not realizing it was close to impossible to get a taxi, LYFT or Uber to get around. We walked from the Inn to Rockport to eat and explore and had to walk back as well. over 4 miles round trip so LOTS of steps but hard on the old back. The Inn offers breakfast but no other meals at this time so you’re kind of stuck. I can’t blame the property for the lack of transportation
Beautiful restored inn with gorgeous views. The staff was absolutely amazing!

United States of AmericaThere is no elevator on the property, so travel light. Bathroom door would stick. It is expensive and they offer free breakfast if you book direct, since I didn't know the area, I didn't do that. I also got confused when I first checked it and went to the door by The Emerson Inn sign. That is not the entrance and walked into the only room with an outdoor entrance in the whole hotel.
It is a quiet relaxing hotel with mostly older clients but that also made it very private. The pool was small due to the area the hotel was in but lovely. I slept better here than I do at home. The area is so beautiful.

United States of AmericaThe property having such long history is a plus. It’s also at the center of Cape Ann, everything was easily accessible - went to a different beach every day which were all within 6 -15 minutes from Emerson Inn. The beaches were gorgeous - very child friendly. Rockport town is nearby and very vibrant. All the other towns encompassing Cape Ann are short drive away. Tons of restaurants around. Although the food served during dinner at the inn are not to be missed - well curated and simply delicious. Kimberly, the Owner, and her staff were GREAT! They provided such exceptional service.
