Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaPrice… a little high, and the room was a little warm…. The town is very small with everything shutting down around 9. All in all no big complaints.
It took a little while to check in… the attendant was on a call with a gentleman from Canada planing a trip for the fall.. He did eventually check me in and I raced to the bathroom. After a well deserved restroom break (4 hours in the car). I was pleasantly surprised by the room. The bathroom was very nice as well… above expectations. Sink drain was a little slow and never used the shower. Restaurant down stairs was great, and very convenient. There was a 45 min wait but back upstairs to the room, and the hostess called us when our table was ready. Great inn would recommend again. A little pricey but it is a holiday week during ski season so…. Way Better than the resort prices. Breakfast was a great bonus, and the cook/server was very nice.

Friendly and very helpful hotel staff. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner at the bar downstairs was very good and convenient. A glass of wine by the fireplace each night was an excellent way to finish each day.

United States of AmericaRoom temperature is controlled centrally and the only way to customize it is with a fan or space heater. The food, while good was very regimented in amount and choice. I've been to other inns and the offerings were more varied and numerous or there was a buffet. Also the breakfast room didn't fit the quaint feel of the rest of the inn. There was another dining area that perhaps is used for events (?) which had more appeal. Understood a higher price for holiday weekend but still thought it was really high with no other amenities.
Food was good. Location was good, loved scenic drive. Server at breakfast was very friendly. Person who checked us in was efficient and cordial.

United States of AmericaStaff was friendly and social. Room/bathroom were both clean. Not overly fancy but very comfortable. Didn’t hear noise from hallway or downstairs. Breakfast was great. We picked from a list of items at night and they were ready for us in the morning at the time we asked. Restaurant on bottom floor was a plus.

United States of AmericaGreat spot for the price! All the employees were so kind. Restaurant/bar was a good spot. Rooms were nice and clean, good Wi-Fi connection since service can be spotty. Included breakfast and in room bathroom/shower is always a plus in older Bnb and Inns.

United States of AmericaIt was perfect for the price point. Our exceptions were of a charming older inn and that is exactly what we got. A question above asked if it is a romantic place to stay. My answer is it that it could be depending on what one is looking for.
The Smugglers Notch Inn exceeded our expectations. Charming 1800’s Inn. Decor is true to the time. Rooms were nice, freshly painted, very clean and comfortable, with crisp updated linens. Breakfast was included and had many options to choose from that was prepared with all the freshest ingredients. Great location for local hiking, biking, river kayaking and skiing. Would definitely stay hear again!

UkraineWe were in summer and it has central air conditioning. The only way to adjust is to open/close the ventilation hole on the ceiling. Other than that it’s an amazing stay.

United KingdomNothing.... even the jamming bathroom door and feeling of being locked in added to experience.
Location Authenticity. - built in 1790s, still has the original character (rooms, layout, photos and pictures, sloping floor etc.) and wonderful to contemplate all that stayed there before and the history it has experienced. This was especially poignant sitting on the porch watching the July 4th parade.from a brilliant vantage point. Cleanliness and comfort. We loved the breakfast and the local hospitality in the Tavern next door.
