Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

My only discomfort was the door lock would not latch. So I just had that little four inch chain. Office personnel said they would follow up and have it looked at. TV Very small and low to the ground, Making it difficult to watch and enjoy.

The room could have had a coffee maker, but, oh well.
Every time we visit St. Augustine, we stay at the Castillo Inn. It's inexpensive and close to the historic district and attractions. It's a 'cheesy' old fashioned Florida motel and I absolutely love it!

We were placed in the handicap room and the bathroom floor would flood while the shower ran.

A mirror in the bathroom and a little shelf in the shower would have been really nice. The remote for the TV did not work well.
It was a pleasant stay. The room was clean, did not have any odors, the location was great.

Rooms could use more lighting. A/C kept things cool, but left a bit of humidity. Furniture could use updating, and maybe needs a bit of decoration to liven up the room.
Owners were friendly. Spacious room, comfortable bed, clean bathrooms. Location was perfect for our needs. Great food options close by, and a short walk to shopping and the downtown area.

I walked barefoot and my feet were black after walking and getting ready for check out. Floors could use some work

the pillows were so hard that I was not able to sleep. Realizing this location is motel, for a rate of $150 plus one would expect soap thicker than 1/8th of an inch and actually lather up when used. There was no individual shampoo and conditioner, but rather two packets of combined shampoo/conditioner. Definately no frills experience.
staff was very pleasant and the room was very clean. Location is excellent. Bed was comfortable.

The dust from construction.
The location was very close to the historic district, and while the motel was under renovation, the staff went out of their way to make things comfortable.

but very basic accommodations, definitely no frill. Some young fellas came and knocked on our door looking for a "friend" who was staying there last week. i am pretty sure he was hooking up with someone for drugs. At any rate, 2 small bars of soap, cheap towels and no service (making bed or fresh towels our second day, no coffee maker either. Pretty expensive for a two star motel.

Towels were stained and dingy. Complimentary soap had bug eggs on it. The shower was not cleaned from a prior stay..used soap and hair were in there. Room smelled like mold. Floor clearly had not been mopped. The bedding felt old and stained as well. Seems like they are doing renovations, hopefully they correct these issues.

It was so gross. Just appeared dirty inside smelled dirty lights didn’t work felt unsafe as the guests there were sketchy .. I didn’t take photos. No need. As we pulled up I was mortified that the pictures didn’t truly resemble the condition
