To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaOnly real issue I had was not finding the fridge right off - it was located in the bottom part of the closet/armoire (where most hotels put the safe). Not really an issue, but that wasn’t really where I expected it to be.
Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Location was great! I went to a festival at the Palace of Fine Arts. It was a nice easy stroll there and I felt very safe walking around the area.

BelgiumBeds are small. Shower works ok, doesn't give a lot of water. Sound proofing is so bad, it feels like you're sleeping outdoors.
Hotel has great location. Hotel offers some complimentary parking places (not enough for number of rooms). Price is ok. The room is very clean and offers all you need and more. Room includes microwave and fridge. This is a great option for a short stay in San Francisco, offers good value for money.

I liked how close the beach was to this hotel. I also enjoyed how close it was to lots of great food and shops. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. There’s also free parking.

United States of AmericaWe booked for two rooms and the property owner said he only received one request from Booking.com. We needed to call Booking.com to fix the issue while the owner had trouble to get the pay from Booking.com. It took 30 minutes to check in. Since similar issue was reported by other people, I am not sure whether the Booking.com screwed this up or there was something wrong with the property’s system.
Good location with free parking. The parking spaces were limited with first-come-first-serve basis, but we arrived early and there were plenty of empty spaces.

United KingdomWe arrived at 3am due to delayed flights. I initially spoke through a slot to the receptionist. After handing over our passports we were checked in and an access key issued. The wife had to go across the road to park whilst I humped all our luggage up the 3 floor to our room. The sliding toilet door had no handles on and if closed all the way across came off the rollers. The AC unit was noisy and the bed was difficult for my wife to get into due to the excessive height. There was no disable parking and it was first come, first served. There is no lift at this hotel. We checked out the next day after finding alternative accommodation. Reception staff assured us that we would receive a refund for 2 days of the 4 day stay. I've yet to receive this refund and will be contacting booking.com accordingly.
Other than a good location nothing.
