Location great but not enough parking spaces. Superior room just ok - had a few issues but staff (Josh) sorted it promptly. Breakfast ok.

The second room we were given was lovely and the decor of the hotel was beautiful. The bar had a decent selection but because of the time we got there we didn't have time to use many of the facilities.

The porridge was very good but would have liked some prunes or soft fruit with it. The cooked breakfast was excellent as were the evening meals. Again it would have been good to have had the choice of fresh fruit for pudding.

FAQs about hotels in Harrogate

Sophisticated Victorian Spa Town

The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.

The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.

One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.

Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

Harrogate is lovely and our only regrets were the food on offer in the hotel restaurant plus the attempt to rip me off when the bill came. And we would have liked a bit more time so as to visit Bettys tea shop

Harrogate is a very pretty town and makes a good base to explore the area. It has lots of good restaurants like Piccolino, The Tannin Level or Oliveta and many great cafés including the famous Betty's. There aren't many sights in the town but it's very pleasant just to walk around and enjoy the architecture and gardens. Harlow Carr RHS Gardens is worth a visit. Historic York is only a 35 minute train ride away and gorgeous Knaresborough only 15 minutes on the same route. Still, you'll need quite deep pockets as everything is at least as expensive as in London.

RHS Harlow Carr is my favourite place to visit and the purpose of my trip. I ate at the Old Swan Hotel where I stayed. Pretty easy to get around although there are a lot of one way streets and sometimes it is tricky to drive down some of them due to double parking on each side as the roads can be quite narrow. I would keep to the main roads next time.

The location in central Harrogate is excellent for the Royal Hall and the International Conference Centre. The room was spotless and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was available at the Camberley Hotel next door and was delicious. The little things made a big difference eg the quiet bathroom extractor fan and the double glazing on the windows. The curtains were thick and cut out the light completely. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Superb location ,ideal for visiting Fountains Abbey ,Harrogate and knaresborough. Lovely places to walk from the Boars Head. Next to a deer park and guests at the hotel have free access to the dear park. All the staff were excellent but a special mention to Paula at reception. I had booked the wrong dates and turned up a week early.expecting to be told there was no room ,Paula arranged with the Manager to prepare a room for us and saved the day and our Easter weekend.

We love Harrogate and have stayed at the crown a good few times and never really had any complaints. But on our last stay…Breakfast which cost £13 each was appalling. We stayed 3 nights. One morning there was no yoghurt, we had charcoal croissants, hash brown’s that were rock hard & mushroom that were not cooked. We complained to staff about this. But obviously nothing was done. This has put us off staying at the Crown hotel in future.

The room was superb. it had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were available instantly at any time. The proprietor went the extra few miles for me as I had a flat Tyre and he basically saved the day and made such an effort to help us out of a situation on a Sunday morning. But the hotel itself was clean, tidy and excellent to stay in. If we return to Harrogate we would be here again with out question.

Room was basic but ok, location of the hotel is superb perfect for walking into Harrogate centre. Fat badger bar staff spot on as usual, table initially reserved wasn't the best for eating but it was soon rectified for us. The menu is a little sparse, could do with a few more mains options but the food was nice. Good atmosphere in the hotel as a whole all covid compliant and safe.

Beautiful flat with a view of the park. It was a pretty 15 minute walk into the center of Harrogate and 5 minutes to a small supermarket. The host Sally had left lots of thoughtful touches like milk, tea and children’s games. The host was also very easy to contact and responded immediately and in a helpful way.
