Great location and comfortable room. Shower had good pressure. The fan in the room was enough to keep us cool. They allowed us to store our bags whilst we hiked Acatenango for the night. They also did our clothes washing super quick.
When you enter through a small door, prepare yourself to be transported to another place and time. In this innovative Hotel-Museum-Spa, every traveler will enjoy a comfortable stay.

We stayed just one night here and felt like we had a chance in the afternoon of arrival and then a few hours in the morning to see everything major in town. We arrived on a Sunday night and it was SWARMING - my son actually said it reminded him of Disneyland with vendors selling all the same things like light up toys, etc. Monday morning was much more calm and enjoyable. Was able to see the beautiful sites and enjoy the town much more. The volcano was barely coming out as we were leaving so wish we had a better view of that.

pay in Q and not dollars or use your credit card which is not a guarantee. They were canceling my guest reservations and my VISA/MC or DISCOVER was not working except my DEBIT card which was odd but was later explained that they have to wait 8 days to get the money from the credit card and DEBIT card was immediate money. That was not nice.

Lovely historical town that captures the culture, cuisine and spirit of the country. Walkable, or by Uber or tuk tuk. Most streets are bumpy cobblestone, so don’t recommend bikes, although there are bike tours provided in the area. Lots of hotels, B&Bs, and restaurants, museums, historical sites and shops for tourists.

It's a UNESCO site, so you know with certainty it's very special. I found it spellbinding; it's a place that "has it all!" Never once felt unsafe, even walking through town alone in the wee hours of the morning. Easily and enjoyably very walkable, even from one side of the city to the other (but you need comfortable walking shoes given the cobblestone streets laid in the 1850s). Great restaurants and pubs on every block, too numerous to mention except, perhaps, for the Irish pub called "Snug."

Antigua is a beautiful city with so much to do and so much to see! I walked all over the city at all times of the day and night! I never saw any danger or felt any danger! Antigua is very safe, different than Guatemala city! I did not go and I had no interest in going to Guatemala City. Antigua has everything!

Nice location with comfortable rooms. Quiet place since it's few blocks away from the city center but you can reach it in less than 10 minutes by walking. They serve a free local breakast in a beautiful restaurant inside the hotel. Really kind staff, they helped me with my transportation to Panajachel (Atitlán) and exchange money upon arrival. Amazing facilities and the cost-benefit is great. The bottom line: I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I would absolutely return when visiting Antigua again!!
Basic room, cleanliness was ok, kitchen was a bit small but did the job, laundry area with clothes lines, wifi worked well. Stayed one more night after Acatenango hike.
Booked the overnight tour with the hostel, Q450 including entrance, transportation, guide, 4 meals, wooden poles, camel bags, headlamps, jackets, gloves, etc. At the base camp, they had yoga mats and sleeping bags. Small group, only 7 of us. It was a nice experience.
Check in was at Esperanza Hostel, less than 5 minutes on foot.
Wish I could have stayed longer! This hostel is lovely for relaxing and working too. Great wifi. The pool, sauna and coffee bar are all amazing extras. They have a huge roof terrace where you can relax, as well as loads of seating throughout the property. I’ve never slept in a bed so comfy away from home. The bathrooms were great too, so clean and with hot water showers. The breakfast included was great too. The staff and service were amazing - it felt like a luxury hotel.
The property was beautiful and all of the greenery and gardens were so nice.
Most importantly, the woman who worked at the front desk was so nice and helpful. I was grateful she was so kind to us, made good recommendations, and saved us by coordinating a ride for us short notice as all of our Uber drivers were canceling on us. The Uber drivers wanted to give us rides off the app and when we said no, they cancelled our ride requests.
You cannot beat the location! It's right by the central plaza, and is walking distance from the sights, shopping, and amazing restaurants. The hotel itself is beautiful, especially the pool. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast, but they offered discounts for some restaurants that were in walking distance. We liked being able to try a different place for breakfast every day. Our room also had stunning views of the volcanoes.
This was one of the cleanest hotels/hostels I have ever stayed in. The landscaping is beautiful and the amenities are good -- it's a little oasis in the city. The breakfast was great -- they have the best chirmol in all of Guatemala (imho). The staff are also all great, friendly, and very responsive to issues. They all speak English really well, if that is important to you.
Staff was so helpful, they went beyond. I needed help contacting my transportation and they helped me and arrange everything so I didn’t have to worry. They also helped me with a map and I could leave my luggage even after my check out. Plus it’s a nice spot to take pictures in a quite place, ~8 mins walking distance from the center. Shout out to Genessis staff :)
Breakfast was Guatemalan-style, which suited me just fine -- I was in Guatemala, after all.
The location is on an important street, but the rooms are set back, so that didn't factor into the stay at all.
It was really easy to walk to places of interest.
The woman at the front desk was very helpful in helping me navigate what I needed in English.
This is an amazingly unique property and the hotel fee includes admission to unique on-site museums. The pool is great for families. The coffee is very good and strong. The on-site restaurant, while expensive, was very convenient for a rainy evening as a person traveling alone. I did not have to go out which was very relaxing.
We were there for a wedding in Antigua and stayed at the Porta. Our six day stay was terrific! What a pleasant staff you have. We had a very large group of about 20 people stay there and everyone was very pleased with their stay. My wife said to give a shout out to Valarina who did her nails. Food was excellent
This hotel was previously Casa Cristina, which was my go to place when staying in Antigua. It’s in a great location. The friendly staff were helpful in arranging transportation and modifying when needed. The rooftop terrace has a great view and is a nice place to relax.
Lovely peaceful hotel. Very attentive staff. We arrived at 5.00,am after a very delayed flight and staff were there to greet us. Lovely breakfast sitting in courtyard overlooking pool. Great start to our trip to Guatemala
Helpful staff, comfortable rooms, quiet and peaceful. Did our laundry super quick and arranged transportation from the airport. It's away from the really busy part in the centre of the city so it's quieter.
