Beautiful resort, the whole building is aesthetically great with plenty of services (although the pool was under renovation during our stay). The room was spacious, clean and cozy. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and very nice.
The prices (probably because we stayed between seasons) were also quite competitive for the service provided.

Quite a large family hotel near Geilo, a well-known Norwegian center of winter sports at the margin of Hardagenvida. The distance from Geilo can be aporximately 10 km by car. There was originally a farm at the place where the hotel is situated, it has its own ski slope with a lift and an access to two paths for skiing crosscountry, including one with lighting at night. Other paths can be easily reached by car. The landlord is nice and willing to help with the choice of activity according to your expectations. The breakfast was excellent, the dinner was for an affordable price and very large like a double portion in usual restauratnts and it consisted of three dishes. Gluten free diet wasn´t a problem. Since the high season in Norway happens mostly in the Easter period and there vere not many guests, I got an upgrade of my room free of charge. There was nearly always fire in the fireplace in the refectory contributing to a very cosy atmosphere.
This hotel is 10 minutes’ walk from Geilo Train Station. It offers a gym, sauna and pool. Free WiFi and private bathrooms are standard in Highland Lodge’s individually decorated rooms.

The downhill skiing is great for a party of mixed ability - you were never too far apart to meet up again. Nice variety of runs in Geiloheisen side. Less variety of runs in Geilolia but every run a great one. Being able to also set off on lots of varied XC ski trails is also a good selling point. There are a couple of good sized supermarkets in the town.

Geilo was a great location for the particular activities we planned. There are shops in the event you left an important piece of equipment or clothing at home. Other than that, there is one public laundry facility located at a camp site....LONG LINES OF CLOTHES .....would take 5 hours to eventually wash your own clothes.

Large, well equipped comfy 3 bedroom cabin in the woods a short walk from the ski lifts in Vestlia. Very quiet and peaceful location but only a few minutes drive from the town centre. Well signposted, easy to find and super easy to check-in picking the keys up from a lock box via a link sent to your phone. Vestlia ski resort is a hidden gem, perfect for intermediates and beginners, lovely pistes and no lift queues. Loved our stay there and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in this beautiful country.

Off-season Geilo is like a ghost town.
Off-season Geilo is like a ghost town. I visited in early September - summer is over, winter has not come yet. It's a plus when you're on hike, no crowds, no noise, no waiting for toilet in monuntain lodges. But it's nearly spooky when you're out dining. September in Geilo is for those who enjoy outdoors and shorter or longer hikes but at the same time don't fancy carrying a huge backpack from cabin to cabin. From Geilo you can go some loop tours, different difficulty levels and still enjoy hot shower, hotel bed and good breakfast.

The people were very friendly and helpful, starting with the owner of the accommodation, the ski patrol, the staff of the medical centre and the bus drivers. Geilo is a wonderful place for skiing, with a wide variety of slopes and opportunities. We've been there twice and enjoyed it both times. Given that high winds meant that parts of the ski resorts needed to be closed, it would have been helpful if information about which lifts were open was easily available. For example, one of the lifts at Slaatta has a board with the lifts that are open, which is very helpful. If such information were more widely shared, hat would be great.
It was an enjoyable stay at Geilo.
The hotel has a lovely view, but you have to ensure that you are on the side overlooking the valley! We asked for a "quiet room", so I assume that is the trick. The windows in the room were large - actually from wall to wall - so that one from the room could enjoy the view.
Breakfast was good, but we were asked to wait until 08:00, after the group of tourists travelling Norway finished their breakfast. This is understantable (that they want to start early, and just be their group), but it is not very convenient for other guests.
Beautiful location, skibus stops right outside twice a day (once there, once back), river nearby very pretty, staff wonderful. e were in one of the apartments which was a good size for the number of people. Cabins so pretty, and not on top of each other, but still a compact site - just right. A winter wonderland I will never forget. Perfect for children couples - peaceful setting and atmosphere. Note there is a large storage room under the ski rental centre at Vestlia where you can leave equipment which is really helpful.
It’s a nice, newer property.
Location above town, on the ski slopes.
Apartment was very nice, clean and well equipped. Rooms are very small (upstairs) which may be an issue for some. Need to rent sheets and towels for a fee (a standard in Norway) unless you bring your own.
The breakfast at this hotel was really excellent. Many delicious options and plenty of it. We also booked in for dinner the night we arrived and that was also delicious. The dining room is beautiful and comfortable, with a mixture of modern and traditional mountain decor.
We were only passing by Geilo and didn't stay in the cabin for longer than to sleep really, so we can't give a full review of the facilities. However, it fully suited our needs for a place to sleep in a comfy bed and have breakfast before hitting the road again.
They found me a kettle for my room. Normally Norwegian hotels don't always have them! Great breakfast . . . lovely pool, lovely hot tub . . . all in price. Even though I went out of the ski season the area had beautiful autumnal walks . . .
Very big sitting room and kitchen great for family meals. Good washing machine means you don’t have to bring as much. Lovely south facing view across the valley. You can use the pool, sauna and bar in the adjacent hotel, which is nice
The restaurant staff was fantastic -- very friendly, ad helpful. The front desk staff was very helpful and informative. We wish there was a little more printed leaflets in English, but we managed with Google Translate, no problem.
Really nice hotel and room! Everything is nice decorated and in perfect conditions. Room have all necessary for a stay and is very confortable, we really enjoy the hotel
Very easy access near the train station, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Simple but good breakfast included. Comfortable beds, luggage storage and room space.
Nice Hotel in Geilo near the train. Good solution in the summer when most of the hotels are closed. We stayed only one night so definitely were satisfied.
