Offering a garden and garden view, Bridge House is situated in Haltwhistle, 7.5 km from Thirlwall Castle and 8.3 km from Housesteads Roman Fort.

The hosts were absolutely brilliant - very attentive, helpful and with great eye for detail. We could not have asked for more from them. The room was spotless and very tastefully decorated. There was hot water at all times with an excellent water pressure. The beds were very comfortable and fresh. The breakfast had great choice of everything including catering for allergies. There were plenty of small touches which added to the overall great stay eg a relaxation room filled with books and great views, a hot tub which can be booked, eco friendly approach of the hosts and an excellent position for the Hadrian’s Wall and other local sightseeing.

Milecastle Inn on Hadrian's Wall near Haltwhistle, hotel in Haltwhistle

Set in Haltwhistle and only 7.4 km from Thirlwall Castle, Milecastle Inn on Hadrian's Wall near Haltwhistle offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking.

The selfcatering cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, and the owner had left a bottle of milk in the fridge and supplied coffee and tea (ground coffee, too) biscuits and some breakfast cereals to tide over. Very good hearty meals in the inn, and a view over to the milecastle to tempt you to explore the wall.

The town is marketed as being the geometric centre of Great Britain. It may well be. It is ideally situated a short drive from Hexham and roughly midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. It is a small town close to Hadrian's Wall and the associated ancient sites. Nightlife is limited as one might expect from a small town. Well worth a visit.

A pleasant and friendly small town ideally positioned to explore Hadrians Wall and a great place to base a walking, cycling and mountain biking holiday. Additionally some great driving roads and little traffic. Some good pubs locally or within a short drive or cycle.

We only spent one night but it is in a perfect spot for visiting Hadrian's Wall. It is near the best museum- Vindolanda and the best section of the wall (Cawfield Quarry) if you want to get a good taste of the Wall but only have a limited amount of time, like we did.

I was walking Hadrian's Wall so it was great that we had the pub on our doorstep for our evening meal and the property was so close to the Hadrian's Wall path. It was lovely being in such clean air in the heart of Northumberland National park.

Great location in the centre of Haltwhistle, really nice pubs, cafes and shops to hand. The room was outstanding. Very comfy bed, modern bathroom and the little details really set the accommodation a notch above what you usually get - a mini fridge with fresh milk provided, filter coffee and cafetiere, really sumptuous thick bath towels. The self check in process was well explained and straightforward. We didn't meet the owners but there was plenty of written and emailed communication that made us feel like very welcome guests.

Alan and Dorothy, the hosts, were extremely helpful.A roaring log fire was burning on our arrival,There was freshly baked shortbread as an extra surprise welcome. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well appointed. With two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en-suite showers and toilets. Set in the beautiful northumbrian countryside a short drive to Haltwhistle, and within easy reach of Carlisle and Brampton. We are booked for another weekend break here in six weeks and can hardly wait. Highly recommended

It's a great location for exploring Hadrians Wall and Cawfields Quarry, I stayed in one of the annexe double rooms which was like a mini hotel, styled on a Swedish lodge. Spotlessly clean, quiet, comfortable bed, great customer service - Kirsty my host was brilliant, very friendly and a pleasant character. Other staff I met were great too. The food is locally sourced and a bargain for the price - delicious. There's a Sainsbury's 2 minutes walk away which came in handy for amenities. 10/10!

Excellent location, 7 mins walk from Haltwhistle station. The Hadrian’s Wall Bus stops right outside the hotel. The room was cosy and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom toiletries included hair conditioner: a wonderful, unexpected bonus! The cooked breakfasts were delicious and very good value for money. Food in general was excellent: we had dinner here every day. The staff were warm and welcoming, and always ready to help, despite how crazy busy the restaurant was!

We were walking Hadrians Wall with friends and met them at Haltwistle - we all; stayed at The Manor House. The owner and staff go the extra mile to make you welcome and even have a FREE shuttle bus to take you back to the wall to continue your walk(Haltwistle is a good 2 miles away and that is a long walk at the end of a 14-16 mile day). Very nice, clean bedrooms, crisp linens and big white towels - more like a good hotel than rooms in a pub so above expectation.

I loved the location , the simple old style decor and fittings, lots of kitchen equipment. I liked the helpful contact with Lyn who is very knowledgeable and helpful. Also , I did not use my car all week! the 685 bus, ( use stagecoach it is double decker ) , runs hourly and is a beautiful route, and Haltwhistle station is only a brief walk away . Both bus and train run along Hadrians Wall, Newcastle to Carlisle.

The location was perfect, right in the centre of Haltwhistle with close access to pubs, restaurants and shopping facilities. Parking was at the rear of the apartment within a two-minute walk. The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable and secure. Geographically, Haltwhistle is more or less in a central position by Hadrian's Wall, so all the major sites were within easy travelling distances.

This is a lovely family farm not too far from Haltwhistle and Hadrian's Wall. We had a big room with walk in shower. Breakfast was in the main house and it was really really good! The proprietor picked us up at the train and then showed us the walking paths to get back to town and up to Hadrian's wall. I would love to return to this amazing place.

A small cottage, perfectly suitable for us, a retired couple. Very clean with good quality furniture. The Milecastle Inn is a good, friendly pub serving very good food, the sea bass was excellent and lunchtime sandwiches very good! Lovely walking area, with a lovely walk to Haltwhistle on a path through woodland.

The Snug is a comfortable intimate space overlooking a pasture a mile or so outside of the town of Haltwhistle, which has food stores and pubs. The room has many nice features including an attached glass solarium seating area that expands the space, and is where you have an excellent breakfast. Great hosts too!

We are regular visitors to Haltwhistle (wife was born there and went to school in this building when it was the local primary school ). We have stayed at several hotels or B&Bs. This was by far the best and we’ll be staying again. Rooms very tastefully refurbished and excellent, inventive breakfast choices
