The landscape and settings are great. You can get there with the new fast train. The Chinese built the train stations and they all are far away from town, not sure why. Vang Vieng is very popular with fun sports very young people including lots of Brits and Aussies. Not the best food I had, try out GOAT for Vietnamese.

It has a good night street food central to many hostels.
It has a good night street food central to many hostels. Nature, including the river and mountains, they are great. Moreover the tours you must be careful about which ones you pick the prices are generally similar but many of them are different they use different areas for particular activities like zip lining or the blue pool they are actually like five Blue pools don't go to number one because it's very small and it has a ton of people that is quote the cheapest pool to go to. So ask to see pictures of their different things because as you can see there are different company names like wonderful or Jackie or seven or whatever there are tons of them and they have their own teams and they run their own thing some are better than others and I went to one from seven and it was okay well isn't the greatest experience but it was okay.

This is a popular destination for backpackers and young people. There is no shortage of bars, restaurants, and food carts. There are many types of recreational activities and tour operators but it’s easy to reach hiking trails and lagoons on your own. Phangeun - Silver Cliff - was worth the hike!

We stayed there for about one week and tried also two hotels in this time.
Vang Vieng is very beautil und it takes a while to discover the different beautiful places here. Best option is to rent a motorcycle. And for some view points you have to be an well physical condition to reach them.
In Vang Vieng we tried a lot of restaurants and different food and just one restaurant was very disappointing for my Lao wife and me...
We liked the Namphet Restaurant.. its a bit hidden behin a bridge.. but you will have a beautival view to the river and very good food..
what we didnt like was the behaviour of this crowds of chinese tourists.. they behave like laos is disneyworld

General a nice town with lots of restaurants, bars and a really nice nature around. BUT: totally overrun by tourists, especially Chinese. Cycling to the hills outside town will result in lots of traffic due to hundreds of stinky, rectles buggys and vans shutteling tourists from lagoon to lagoon. The lagoons are overfilled with people, the river with kayaks.
Once you arrived a Hill to climb or a cave to explore, it gets much quieter.
All in all: Beautiful nature around town once you reach it, but be ready to deal with mass tourism.

Best hostel in Vang Vieng I stayed in Vang Vieng nana backpacker Hostel and I can't describe in to you how good the hostel is!. This is a social hostel with amazing services provided by the staff. Nice hostel, staff really friendly! Lot of options for activities around the city that you can book everything from the hostel and they will ensure that everything goes smoothly as possible!. The staff will go above and beyond to accommodate you, I would recommend this hostel to anyone that is going to vang vieng
Best restaurant we have stayed in 2 months travelling through southeast asia. Every single area in the hotel is extremely well maintained, even after the covid period. The rooms were large, very confortable and spotless clean. The staff was really noce and spoke perfect english. The restaurant is simply the best you can find in Vang Vieng, both the breakfast (plenty of diversity and great quality) and the a la carte meals fpr the lunch/dinner (great price for the quality of the meals).
The staff were excellent welcoming us with a welcome cup of drink and telling us about the town as well as some tips for visiting Vang vieng. we booked train and hot air balloon tickets at a better price than booking online. Our room on the top floor was spacious enough. Standing on the balcony you can see the mountains and the sunset in the afternoon and the hot air balloons flying in the sky. The hotel is clean and the location is right in the center of Vang Vieng, very convenient
I had such a good time in this newly reopened hostel, the place is definitely the best value for money you can get in Vang Vieng. Basic facilities but all you need with a very cheap price: good location, good AC, good shower, good bed, lockers, and most importantly, great atmosphere. The guys running the place are so much fun, I spent most of my time such chillin at the bar. The view from the bar area is unbelievable. If you don’t go to stay, at least go to have a beer at sunset!
We stayed in Vang Vieng for a week in serveral hotels and Camellia was the best with great services. Hotel itself located in the center of town. Reserved some tours with hotel, all were good.
Quick laundry and very clean. Staff took care of us and helped us to store some bags when we went to LBP by train. Breakfast was optional to order, not much but enough for us, tasty fresh fruits.
Strongly recommend
Hotel was in an ideal location in vang Vieng parallel to the street with the most nightlife (3 minutes around the corner) but was still quiet so you couldn’t hear the music, room was clean also. Anna was the best host you could ask for super friendly, gave you ideas on what to do and where to go everyday and could sort tours/bikes/anything you wanted.
Very nice and clean hotel with good rooms. The breakfast was good enough for a small hotel offering cheap price. The location is super. Good staff available most of the time and super helpful. They helped us to book activities, scooter and gave us some tips about what to do in Vang Vieng. Thank You. A great hotel to stay in Vang Vieng. I recommend it.
This is the hotel that has room dom is the cheapest and the breakfast is delicous,The hotel boss is hospitality, Everything Wonderfull!amazing place for stay, great room,so clean and nice, staff so friendly and helpful, they have all sevices we need for my time in vang vieng,i like this hotel'if i come to laos i will come to Army Backpackers Hostel
We loved walking around the guesthouse's neighborhood because it was located centrally in town. Their staff were so kind and friendly enough to talk with. They spoke English well and it seemed to be easy to ask anything about our plans in Vang Vieng and other places in Laos.
Quiet and clean guesthouse
Return soon!
The best hotel in Vang Vieng! The interior is amazing and it is very clean. The room is spacious with large shower. Breakfast is great too with lots of variety of Lao food and western food. On top of that, the staff is very helpful too. Definitely will be coming back again if I go to Vang Vieng!
best party hostel in vang vieng. easy to socialize. they have happy hour every day free whisky and vodka. they did also have a birthday party of the manager with food and drinks for everyone in the hostel. helpful staff and easy to book activities and transport tickets.
It was very social but not a party hostel. I met friends here that I’ve continued to keep in touch with long after we left Laos.
The free breakfast was one of the best I’ve had on my whole trip.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating
Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The hotel have the best location and there is a train very close by that can get you most places. The people we met were so accommodating and made us feel very welcome on our first trip to Vang Vieng!
single beds in dorm so you don’t have to worry about bunks. hostel is cleaned daily which is nice. standard options for breakfast which you find all over Laos; coffee is Nescafé though. toilets and showers are separate with hot water.
The best place in all of Laos, the most worth the price. Central location and quiet rooms. WiFi is excellent. Varied and excellent breakfast. And above all the amazing and helpful staff. I would recommend.
The best hotel i have ever stayed in Laos. Rather basic but value for what i paid. Nice room and it is clean, spacious. Free breakfast in the morning starts from 7.30Am to 10 AM
Highly recommend
Good location just 5-7 minutes walk to town can book everything with hotel rental scooter booking tour, book bus ticket.. free tea, coffee at lobby. Wifi supper fast at Laos.
