Though it was my first time for me, we were in Gießen for a yearly festival. We did some driving around in Gießen. The city is very attractive with beautiful shops, clean streets and very friendly people. Gießen is small but very neat and easy to get around city.

Gießen is what it is, we have family there, so it was great to visit. not much else to see if you are wanting or looking for a true German experience although not far away are some very worthwhile sights, particularly Marburg. Dinner at Badeburg is a special treat, highly recommended. The old castle walls provide real atmosphere. Gießen itself s a bit sterile. Schwannenteich is nice but overall, i can't imagine it as a city on any tourists agenda, unless you had a reason to visit.

After one hour waiting with a small child outdoors at 11 pm we left and checked into another hotel. There where other people staying at same accommodation who had the same problem a few days before but couldn’t help us as they also did not have any additional contact details.
