Hallowell Rooming House is a self-catering guesting house - emphasis on house. It feels very homely, there's an entertainment room, gym, sauna and kitchen and dining area. The owner, Andrea, is very helpful and friendly... honestly, this place is great and I would recommend it over and above any chain hotel you care to mention. Hallowell itself is a small town but there's enough in the way of facilities to make sure you can get shopping, beers, pizza and all that. There was a great view of the River from our room (we were on the top floor) and really, that's why you're most likely in Maine - scenery, rivers, hiking and all that good stuff. Can't recommend this place highly enough - if you're in the area, choose Hallowell Rooming House.

Breakfast was amazing and the staff kept it well stocked, even up to the end of breakfast. We were attending an event at the civic center and then UMA so the location was perfect. DIdn't have to move our car. Such a short walk!
