This hotel is fabulous! The rooms are really spacious and the beds/pillows are very comfortable. A separate toilet and spacious bathroom were lovely. The traditional Japanese breakfasts were delicious, with meal inclusions changing daily. The proximity to the train station, information centre and restaurants was all terrific!

This has been my best experience ever in Japan. This ryokan is a peaceful oasis where everything is perfect: the quiet atmosphere, the warmth of the owners, the beauty and comfort of the room, the luxury of the private onsen, and the delicious breakfasts and dinner. Modern, family-friendly and clean house which had loads of space. We loved nearly everything about this place including the large number of rooms, full-sized kitchen and dining table, 2 toilets, space for storing our suitcases and clothing, and the combined 2-in-1 washing machine and dryer. It is in a great location that is close to the JR train station and lots of restaurants. The host staff were very responsive and helpful.

The room was a great size. The person working there was extremely helpful, she ordered us a cab, and told us a lot of information about things close by as well as the room. Had a wonderful time using the two lovely private onsens in the room. Will definitely stay again

Amazing property and terrific value for money. The room we stayed was seperate from the main building (a 2’ walk away) had an onsen bath + outdoor onsen areas and was simply stunning. Such a luxurious feel! You’re own private spa. Good location as well - walkable distance from the sights. (Hells of Beppu etc..) Would highly recommend.

When we booked this accommodation based on the description and the photos, we were looking forward to staying somewhere that had so much character, especially after staying at a few nondescript hotels in our travels. We were delighted to discover that the room looked even better in real life. We very much appreciated the thought and effort that has gone into creating a room that is not only very appealing to the eye, but also provides all of the requirements needed when traveling. Hajimari Beppu was our favourite accommodation on this trip. It is highly recommended, with many lovely details for you to discover. We would definitely stay here again.

Cosy common area , great shared facilities and thoughtful decoration . Brilliant tips on how best to use time in the area ( food and onsen recommendations ) . Convenient location for buses to the onsen and kannawa area. Being able to get to an onsen in the morning and before dinner is an advantage of being in the area.
