An amazing shukubo, run by the kindest people in a breath-taking location. I am forever grateful for their incredibly friendly attitude, helpfulness, and openness. My room had a great view of the mountains, and I could enjoy the hot baths in the evening. And their food is amazing, too! A truly wonderful experience.

It is simply perfect— a beautiful legacy of family heritage, a beautiful building, thoughtfully curated interiors, and wonderful meals. I believe all of this beauty comes from the hosts, Mr. Utsuboya and his wife, whose sincerity, attentiveness, and dedication are reflected in every detail of this place. I stayed here for three nights, and even before leaving, I already found myself missing it. One day, I will return to Mount Mitake just for Utsuboya-so.

Thanks for the stay! The place was very nice, clean, and comfortable! We stayed there because we wanted to go rock climbing in Mitake, and this place was a good midpoint to get there! The station is close by. When we arrived, the staff welcomed us super well. Thank you very much.

Food and the onsen with the scenery - nothing can compete that indeed. Also the spa in 3rd floor was also perfect. It is a relaxed and refreshed journey esp. I just did 54 km hiking through the Okutama area.

Very cool old house refurbished with modern fittings. Easy to understand instructions to get in. Had everything we needed - a mini kitchen with cooking utensils, comfy bed (we only slept upstairs), great location (short walk from Mitake station - about 10mins), safe surroundings (right across the Mitake post office), and easy access to hikes around (an enjoyable 40mins walk to the mitake cable car station). It happened to snow when we were there - it took awhile for the house to warm up since it was big. The best thing was the big onsen tub and the bath salts - very much needed after long hikes each day. Great little balcony upstairs to chill out and watch the sun set over the mountains. The team was very responsive, which was very much appreciated. When we left, unfortunately train lines got cancelled and we were stranded. They couldn't help, but they answered our questions readily. We acknowledge the effort. Would highly recommend.
