The beds were incredibly comfortable and perhaps the most comfortable pillows we've experienced in 7 months in South America! The house is very welcoming, and the people that work here are lovely; kind, caring, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure we were accommodated. The rooftop laundry area is a great addition, and being able to hand-wash our merino and delicates was a great bonus! Wifi was stable and fast, and we loved being able to relax with a movie on Netflix at the end of a long day walk. They very kindly and securely looked after our luggage while we were away on the Santa Cruz trek, and were very helpful with tips and a map of places of interest. They helped us book an early morning taxi to Laguna 69, and even came out with us to make sure we found it! Really nice spot, and genuinely welcoming people!

The location is excellent, a few minutes from the main street. Excellent for a soft landing. The hotel staff significantly upgraded the experience, personal attention and providing a solution to any problem.

Where should I start? You can't go wrong with a booking at Akilpo. The rooms are of a high standard and have been built relatively recently. It is very clean and there is plenty of hot water in the shower. The beds are very large and comfortable. The included breakfast is plentiful with fruit, pancakes, yoghurt, granola and more and fresh eggs are prepared to order. The entire staff is simply lovely and very helpful in all matters. I booked my tours here and was advised competently and seriously. The experiences on the tours and hikes were excellent and absolutely corresponded to the descriptions in advance.

Our stay at Cordillera was great. The hotel was clean, modern and the bed was comfortable. The location of the hotel was in a nice quiet area so it wasn’t noisy at night. The staff were friendly and very welcoming and helped us with everything we needed. We chose to do our hike privately and not with a group tour and Edisson (reception staff) helped us organise the private taxi the day before with no issues. We also left very early one morning at 5am for one of our hikes and the hotel organised a packed lunch for us as we were going to miss breakfast. If you are staying in Huarez, i highly recommend this hotel!
