Hotel is beautiful and quite comfortable. Rocio met us when we arrived and helped out in our planning of what to do and see. We would go back just for Rocio. If you are planning to be in Chile Chico, go 5 minutes out of town and stay here. If you are not going to Chile Chico, plan to go and to stay at the Hotel Posada del Rio it is truly great.

Juan, the owner, is super nice, friendly, and helpful. He can offer lots of advice about hiking in Patagonia. He speaks pretty good English, but we tried to use our Spanish when we could.

Well-appointed rooms, with lots of thought and care put into the decor and furnishings. Its in a historic building with modern bathroom, though original floors that make a big of noise. Delicious breakfast and dinner, including the best food we had in this part of Patagonia. Just like with the rooms, the meals have local ingredients and lots of careful preparation. The owner is delightful, friendly, and super helpful!

We strongly recommend Chile Chico and the very scenic road between Chile Chico and Puerto Guadal. The road is a bit dangerous, but the scenery is breathtaking. The General Carrera Lake is huge and has scenery with snow capped mountains in the background that one can only dream of, but it is real!
