Meizhou is truly a hidden gem that is not well known even by the local cantonese. There are many beautiful ancient towns to visit, surounded by amazing nature and they have their own very interesting Hakka Culture. I can recommend the local Hakka cuisine, Hakka tofu is very nice and Hakka salty chicken is a must try.
