Hotels near Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport - MRU, Mauritius

Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn. Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit! We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.

Blue bay is perfect for a typically Mauritian beach holiday. There are no large shops or fancy restaurants. There is a shopping centre a short ride away, but in general this is a quiet area, which is exactly what we wanted. It was our fifteenth, yes 15th visit to Le Peninsula Bay hotel, and it is perfect for our needs. The hotel is not a 4 or 5 star, but a very good 3 star. Most rooms have sea views. Try the Ocean View rooms. Really worth it.

I came in with some reservation due to the wind that was considered to be a problem by other visitors. Some others were ranking the West coast over the East Coast (we were on the East Coast) but after visiting the entire island, we were very happy about our choice.

Mahebourg is the downtown of Mauritius, do not stay there unless you wanna sleep for a night so you can be closer to the airport because it is closer to the airport, otherwise the north side is the best for accommodation.

Good Place to explore from. Local Bus service..good access to Mahebough - nice market- buy a hat😇 Close to Jeremy point where you take a Catamaran cruise ...defnitely worth it!! Nothing was lacking The 2nd floor villa with a balcony view to the garden and sea was private with a superb vista it had a very well stocked kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Every attention to detail had been given with pottery and art it was aesthetically pleasing. provisions were easy to get and at short distance to obtain. what wasn’t evident from its description was its peace and privacy which for us gave the restorative and restful holiday we required.
