Boasting 400 meters of private sea front, this 5-star property offers spacious rooms all with balcony and views of the Atlantic and the Deserted Islands. Top-class boutique hotel in a beautiful location with excellent facilities, amazing views and friendly, welcoming staff. Close to the airport (which is a bonus, not a problem). Rooms are a good size and so close to the sea, it feels like you can reach out and touch it! Having breakfast outside on the terrace in mid-autumn was the icing on the cake.

Located halfway between Machico and Santa Cruz, this family-run hotel is just a short drive from Madeira Airport and impresses with stunning sea views. I liked everything about this place. The owners were really friendly & they both speak fluent English. They were very nice to me & as I was a solo traveller this really helped make my holiday relaxing. The waitress was also really nice & very polite. Such a lovely place to stay. The food is excellent & the restaurant has a lovely balcony with a sea view. Try the “bolo do Caco”, traditional Madeiran garlic bread. It’s so tasty & the best in the area. They lit a fire in the wine lounge every night & this made the place even more cosy. I was sad to leave this hotel!

Perfect holiday, very helpful and welcoming staff ... an exceptional spacious accommodation on top of that. The interior of the house is fashionably furnished, done by somebody, endowed with a keen sense of beauty of design. We had enjoyed the balcony - spectacular ocean view, incoming landing traffic. Amazingly, there was no noise from the nearby airport at all. We'd always go back again.

From your balcony enjoy amazing views over the mountains of Santo da Serra and the luxuriant landscape with centenary trees, gardens and exotic flowers. Quinta com muitas arvores e plantas que na primavera devem proporcionar belas fotos.
Surrounded by nature, Enotel Golf - Santo da Serra is 8 km from Machico, 20 km from Funchal and a 5-minute walk from Santo da Serra golf course. The hotel totally exceeded our expectations - from start to finish everything was superb: beautiful...
Situated on the island of Madeira, the Dom Pedro Madeira is located on the beach of Machico Bay. Everything is perfect. Great views in the window
White Waters is a modern family-run hotel located in Machico’s Main Square, just 200 metres from the beach. Guests will enjoy breakfast in its tranquil tea garden and rooms with ocean-facing... Staff very friendly and helpful. Gave very good advice on places to visit.
A small friendly village about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Funchal, however we hired a car and then drove all over the island to visit everything during our stay, including the highest point and caves that are just two things worth mentioning.
Lovely village with large park and lots of good walks near by. Taxi to Portela then walked back along levadas, though got lost at one point. New tea house and fish farm on route back was a gem and would be near enough village to visit from Santo. Sunday market was very disappointing.
Nothing much to see in Santo unless you like golf. I would highly recommend you book a hotel at the coastside of Madeira as it is warmer and sunnier there. Even if you are interested in exploring the interior of Madeira, you can still do so by staying near the coast as Madeira is not very big.
Amazing views. The town centre is small but lively especially with the market on Sunday. There's a beautiful park with an amazing view. It's very close to beaches in the South and the main coastal road to Funchal. Plenty of golf opportunities.
The town is very quiet as a rule except on Sundays when there is a local market..when you cant move for people and cars. Its a good location relatively close to the airport (which is well worth a visit if you like planes as it is quite exciting watching them attempting to land ...it seems quite risky with the strong winds) and only half an hour from the Capital Funchal which is where most things are going on and obviously worth several visits. The south of the island has much more going on than the north and the weather is generally better but the North is well worth seeing for the magnificent cliffs and coastal scenery. There is not a great deal of night life and the food on the whole is a bit ordinary. There are a few exceptions (see Michelin guide) but in general the chefs lack finesse and flair. Most of the restaurants offer the same menu which for a fortnight is a bit dull. We are very lucky in England to have such a wide variety of international cuisines cooked to a very high standard (comparitively) Madeira is a lovely island though and well worth a visit.
Good selection of restaurants, bars and mini-markets, excellent for eating out or self catering. Visit the park, tranquil, stunning views and picnic areas. Lovely church and very busy Sunday market. Regular bus service and only 15 minutes from airport.
