Montrose is not just a stop between the airport and Telluride, or Gunnison and Grand Junction. There is a lot to do, see, shop, and eat in Montrose. Highly recommend people slow down and stay a while. Try the historic, freshly remodeled Rathbone Hotel. Have a drink at Shelter Distillery. Get your portrait taken at Studio 14 by Gabrielle. Shop local.

Montrose is a sweet town at the edge of the spectacular Ouray to Durango sweep of mountains. There are plentiful, good places for good meals. We found a liquor store (House of Spirits) that has an adjacent ice cream and pizza parlor (Buckaroos) at about 1500 Main...The Coffee Trader on Main has a garden searing area that makes for a wonderful place to begin the day. We plan on returning to spend added time in Montrose!

Loved touring the National parks and the cute towns near Montrose. Enjoyed our stay at the Ranch in the mountains for the peaceful beautiful views. If you like hiking and fishing all of that was close. The food at the bed and breakfast was outstanding. We are older so we enjoyed the scenery of the canyons by car and short walks.

There are two things I particularly recommend for Montrose. The Montrose Donut and Deli. And The Cabin Restaurant. Montrose Donut Makes a particularly good donut. The cake is perfectly crispy on the outside light and moist on the inside. The glazed raised was the best working out of that simple classic I have had in years. The Cabin is a great place for breakfast, the portions are ample. and everything was exactly as I asked for it. The bacon stands out for me. Perfectly crispy and unusually uniformly cooked. Also surprisingly big slices of bacon. The hash browns were my idea of perfection Crispy on the outside and some tender less well done potatoes on the inside. The eggs were fine. Montrose has good food choices.

This property needs a fire and health inspection. Smoke alarms are old and yellowed and in one room it was hanging from the ceiling. Air conditioner was full of dust, dog hair every where, holes in the walls. Dirty linens. Outside area smelled like urine. Flop house status!!

This property is dirty and unkept inside and out. Rooms were dirty along with the sheets. Outside area smelled like urine. I tried to cancel our reservation for August 30 and 31. The manager would not refund me. I would like a refund if possible.
