Felt like a true home away from home during my travels there. Great clean facilities and spacious rooms, lots of space for socialising and relaxing, and truly wonderful staff and volunteers. The nicest hostel I've stayed in during my time in Peru.

The host, Edgar was exceptionally nice and helpful. The neighborhood was nice and centrally-located. The neighborhood was quiet in spite of its proximity to the beach, as well as, the nightclub and restaurant district. Lots of surf shops and late-night eateries. Very short, inexpensive, and easy bus ride to Trujillo on public transportation.

We loved staying at the Totora Surf House. It was an excellent location with an ocean view, plenty of community space to hang out and meet new people. A nice kitchen to cook in and Diego and Laura are lovely people! They made us create acai bowls that we go to enjoy in the hammocks on the 3rd floor overlooking the ocean. It is definitely a hostel, with young people coming through wanting to surf, so if you are a solo traveler this a great space. We got lucky and there were waves in Chicama so we paid for a tour to go surf the longest left hand wave in the world. They have a brand new Van and had all the right equipment to make it a great trip:)
