Kimika (Barbara) is wonderful and her place is extraordinary. Nestled between lush forested mountains, a glistening river and the beach it is home … where lovely neighbourhood kids pop in and out and you are part of a lively and joyful community. The design of the home is of the finest Japanese cedar whose fragrance wafts throughout. Strongly recommend.

Located in Sekirubu, 300 metres from Tebiro, ティダ民宿結の家 provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and barbecue facilities. The couple who run this guesthouse are very nice and welcoming. Everything is very clean. My single room had comfortable bed and a desk; bath is down the hall. The optional Japanese breakfast is highly recommended--tasty and filling. For other meals guests use microwave and hot-water kettle to fix their own food. Quiet location with the gentle sound of the surf. I am on a bicycle ride and found the location ideal: A day's ride from Amami via Route 81, then a loop to Kasarizaka Lighthouse at northern end of island, then a ride south on Route 58.
