Beach nearby but the best beach I a short drive or 10 minutes walk or paddle away.

Featuring an outdoor terrace, Torre di Baratti Bio Resort is set in Populonia, 300 metres from the Baratti Gulf. The property offers an on-site restaurant and free WiFi. Food was great, exceeded expectations. We stayed in and had our meals at the hotel restaurant, because the food was so good. The staff was extremely helpful in planning local activities. The property has lots of history and old vegetation, making the property extremely interesting.

We spent 3 nights in Apartment Maurino, which is a charming cottage standing alone a short distance away from the owner‘s farmhouse. We enjoyed the idyllic location, next to olive groves and vineyards. The cottage was a short walk away from the Cove of Baratti with a nice coarse sand beach. There were many walking paths in the area, for example to the Archeological Parks of Baratti and Populonia (with interesting Etruscan history), and the hiking trail from Volterra to Piombino runs along this coast. The cottage was simply but adequately furnished, with a very comfortable bed, and good quality towels and linens. The closet contained a supply of additional pillows and blankets. The house was immaculately clean. The kitchen had a good selection of cookware, and an adequate supply of dishes and cutlery. There was a ceramic cooktop, and a microwave. The TV had various satellite stations; the Internet worked well. The communication with the owner was excellent. He met us at the property and provided some tips about the area. We enjoyed our stay here.

The apartment is close to several beaches and some historical sites. It was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and has really good internet. Untypically, it has no TV which increased our relaxation factor as we travel with children. The children enjoyed the big fenced in garden areal to run around. The owners are very nice and educated people. It was a real pleasure to talk with them.
