Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

The staff were so friendly telling us about local markets and places to go as well as booking tuk tuks for us and booking our jungle trek! The jungle trek itself was amazing and an experience I will never forget with Alex, Tenjong and Ari as our guides. They go above and beyond to make sure you're having the best time. 10/10 recommend

Hub Tata Guesthouse er nýlega enduruppgert gistihús í Tuk Tuk og er með garð. Gististaðurinn er með útsýni yfir vatnið. Þegar veður er gott er gestum velkomið að sitja úti. Amazing room, big, clean, spaceous bathroom, well maintained. Great view, good fresh breakfast. Owner amazingly helpful, even ensured my safe shared car travel and checked back with me.

LOBLUS (Low Budget Luxury Stay) er staðsett í Padang, í innan við 10 km fjarlægð frá Siti Nurbaya-brúnni og 47 km frá Talang-fjallinu. Boðið er upp á herbergi með loftkælingu og sérbaðherbergi. JUNGLE LIFE GUEST HÚSIÐ - Gönguferðir og samgöngur Only Book With Us er staðsett í Bukit Lawang og er með sundlaug með útsýni yfir ána. Staff were great for organising trips. Super close to the start of the treks and a lovely view of the river. Staff helped book the tours and transport in and out of Bukit Lawang.

Toba Boi er staðsett í Tuk Tuk á Sumatra-svæðinu og er með verönd og fjallaútsýni. Gistirýmið er með svalir og útsýni yfir vatnið. Gististaðurinn býður upp á útsýni yfir hljóðláta götu. The hosts Dong and Seska were so friendly and helpful which made it my stay a memorable one. There is a bar / restaurant across the road which does great food and the bar has live music on a Saturday night which is also very good. I rented a motorbike which was very handy from the accommodation which was convenient and a good price too and they also provide a good laundry service. The upstairs area at the front was good for chilling out with a nice view of the lake. I would definitely recommend and would stay again. Try the Tuak when you're there - it's the local palm wine.

Bua Guest House er staðsett 9,3 km frá Medan Grand-moskunni og býður upp á loftkæld gistirými með verönd. Everything. Super comfy bed, hot shower, great breakfast… and mostly the kindness of the owners and team. Thank you for taking care of me during my days there! Missing Chacha already!

My stay at Cheeky Monkeys was brilliant. Sarah, Ade and the team were fantastic and helped me out when I needed a last minute trek into the jungle. My guide Rial was fantastic too. A really peaceful escape.
