We have been traveling around Southeast Asia for about five months now, visiting 6 or7 countries, and we’ve realized that it’s not the nature, food, or history that stays with you the most, but it’s the people. Our first week in the Philippines, while staying in Manila, wasn’t the best experience. But everything changed once we arrived on Mindoro Island, and especially when we stayed at Macrina’s place. Macrina and Ligh are two of the kindest, most welcoming people we’ve met on our journey. Every morning we had a different breakfast, and it genuinely made us excited to wake up. Almost every night they invited us to join their “family dinner,” completely free, and the vibe felt exactly like that -warm, homely, and full of care. The food was the best we’ve had in the Philippines, and the way they treated us made us feel not just like guests, but like long-time friends. We’re already looking forward to coming back and visiting Macrina and Ligh again. If you want a place with real heart, this is it.

Situated within less than 1 km of Balete Beach in Puerto Galera, Placido's Vacation Home provides accommodation with seating area. This place offers great value for the price. It’s well located, close to Puerto Galera, and although it’s near the road, it’s surprisingly quiet at night, and traffic didn’t bother me. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with working (though a bit loud) air conditioning, comfy beds, hot water, toiletries, toilet paper, a kettle, drinking water, and good Wi-Fi. There’s also a great restaurant at the entrance where you can have breakfast and enjoy solid meals between 9am and 9pm. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The bed is pretty comfortable with multiple pillows. The place is also clean (though a little run down, here and there).

Aguada Hills Residence er staðsett í innan við 300 metra fjarlægð frá Balete-ströndinni í Puerto Galera og býður upp á gistirými með setusvæði. This was an excellent accommodation which was near poblacion.

Karen's Cottage á Angel's Beach Resort er með einkastrandsvæði, sameiginlegri setustofu, verönd og bar í Puerto Galera. Gistirýmið býður upp á karókí og sameiginlegt eldhús. Karen is such an interesting person to talk to. The place and the atmosphere are quite unique. Be prepared for something different and go for a swim to the beach in nearby Sabang.

Caryolba hometel - Calapan er staðsett í Calapan. Ókeypis WiFi er í boði hvarvetna á gististaðnum. Flatskjár er til staðar. Handklæði og rúmföt eru til staðar á gistihúsinu. Gistirýmið er reyklaust. The owner is very accommodating. Also the place has all the amenities needed for everyday life. Everything went smoothly and i did not encounter any problems at all. I would surely book again at this place next time.

Gististaðurinn er með sjávar- og fjallaútsýni. - astonishing view from our bedroom and restaurant over the Isla Verde Passage - extremely calm (no roosters, no barking dogs at night) :) - clean and fresh air (600m above sea level) - very clean bedroom with aircon, ventilator and modern shower - Billiard available in common area - always approachable and lovely staff, who can organise everything for you at very reasonable prices - initially steep road but easing shortly after and very well doable with a normal scooter (almost no traffic at all)

Galera Lodge er nýuppgert gistirými sem er staðsett í Puerto Galera, nálægt Balete-ströndinni og Encenada-ströndinni og býður upp á garð og bar. Everything about the place was really lovely, the location, atmosphere and facilities, but the staff were exceptional in going out of their way to organise us a taxi to our next destination with a reasonable price. The breakfast was also lovely, and it was very easy to get to the lodge from Balatero Port as there was a private driver there already. Overall wonderful stay in every way, I’m very glad to have chosen this place and would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Galera
