For over 20 years I spent around 2 or more days a week staying in Bothys, Stables, B and Bs, 3/4/5/6 Star Hotels and everything in between due to my work. It was very rare to find a place that strikes the right balance: 4 star hotels and above were often formula based, cold and impersonable with staff that either don't care or over care, B and Bs were often run down or run by owners that were overbearing. I can honestly say the new owners appear to have achieved the right balance: Quality accommodation, well maintained, and spotless, attentive but not overbearing staff and the breakfast which is self service and continental in style offers a huge range of high quality products. Same for coffee and teas. The kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to cook your own meals. The enclosed gardens with Hot Spa are attractive and peaceful.

This is the best place in the region by far. A piece of tranquil heaven, despite being close to the bustling streets of Hastings and Rye. Very clean, very comfortable, all the amenities you need and a great garden for kids to play in. We also enjoyed the relaxing croaking of the frogs from down in the valley.
