As I have been travelling extensively in the area lately I realise how many hidden gems there are in terms of suburban and rural accommodation offering great value for money, extraordinary comfort and care compared to accommodations in historical and touristic cities that take advantage of proximity and do little effort to meet travellers needs and quality services. Il Giardino del Conte Custoza is a gem in the country side of Mantua. Situated in the premises of the garden of a former aristocratic family, the building has been beautifully renovated and maintains the charm of its original function. The rooms are cosy and well furnished, all facing on a beautiful garden. The bed is super comfy and the bathroom is well equipped with all toiletries and a nice hot shower. The breakfast is super, with quality products and home made cakes prepared by the host. I was offered a gluten free breakfast with several options. The host is really nice and caring. The location is good for both trips to Verona and Mantua, a stone's throw from the BnB. There is a private parking at the BnB premises. Definitely a nice base to visit the area between Garda Lake, Mantua and Verona.

The property was a very large home that was immaculate, well-stocked and extremely comfortable. Giuseppe could not have been a more gracious host. it felt as if we had a large, contemporary private home to ourselves.

Very kind host, beautiful house. The room was much bigger than we anticipated and we loved the space. Close (a short drive 5-10 min) to the center of Mantova and even closer (still a short drive 2-3 min) to a few very good napolitan restaurants. Great advice on where to get the best Grana Padano in the region :-) There was a small playground opposite the house. We didnt use this option with the children but there is a train station taking you directly to Verona a few hundred meters from the house.

Amazing place! Giulia and her husband were terrific hosts for our short stay. The food was DIVINE! Pro tip: when you reserve the room get dinner reservations!! The room was incredible! Old town feel with the very best and coolest design touches. Most comfortable bed and pillows!! The morning we left we were rushed but they brought out a small pear tart and grape tart and gave us coffee.... breakfast is bigger but they wanted us to have something. Delicious! You need a few days here and some to visit Mantova! We will be back.

The location was superb, outside of the city but still super close. The host was really kind and suggested a good restaurant for us. We had a dog with us and she was really enjoying the open space and the huge yard. Suoper clean and very accomodating.
