The staff (Seongmi & Yoshi ) were tireless to provide everything that was needed for a great stay. Also, in the arrival day, there was a typhoon hitting Kyoto and if it wasn't for Yoshi contacting us and letting us know how to proceed and which routes to take to Yudanaka, we would have probably end up stuck in Kyoto for a few days. The room was perfect, exactly as expected. Yoshi and Seongmi provided great tips during all our stay, not only for things to do/eat in the region, but also for the rest of our trip.

Great location at the heart of ryokan alley, very hospitable hosts that can shuttle you from the Yudanaka Station to their place free of charge (prior reservation needed), nice cozy restaurant with kotatsu (very relevant when it is cold), comfortable ryokan with lots of space and a gas heater. The host was shinning and always smiling, it gave us good mood for two days. Also she helped us out with the reservation for the onsen and gave us a ride to that place and brought us back in an hour. Shibu Onsen Koishiya Ryokan are the best and we will definitely stay here if we ever come back to Japan again. ps we also left some chocolate from our country and asked them to pin it on their big wall in their cafe. we hope you liked the chocolate!

The hotel seems a bit dated, but it more than makes up with old school charm. A lot of effort was put into creating an exquisite experience showcasing Japanese food and culture. The special care put into preparing the rooms, onsen and even the manicured gardens will draw you to stay longer at such a welcoming hotel.it is no wonder the current Emperor and Empress of Japan have stayed there a few times! A bonus that the hotel is located about a 5min walk to the start of the snow monkey park! Thank you for your kind hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and had fun wearing the specially prepared yutakas to walk around the hotel.

I opted for the Kaiseki meal with my stay and it was largely very good. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was very central to the station and bus stops to attractions like the Monkey Park. Staff were helpful and attentive, and the outdoor hot spring bath was beautiful and well maintained. It was on the pricier side but the value was also high.

One of those better ryokan we have stayed in. Due to heavy snow which caused slow driving and we were also stuck in traffic on the highway that prevented traffic from moving, we arrived late to the hotel. The hotel even dropped us an email to check on our wellbeing. We kept in touch with the hotel telling them our predicament thus causing us to arrive late hence to hold our dinner. On arrival the Manager was outside waiting for us! And all staffs were really helpful, friendly and welcoming too. The dinner and breakfast provided were fantastic! The onsite onsen is great. The entire ryokan is good and located on the beginning of the street as one enter this little town. Since it is winter and snowing heavily the whole little town looks lovely and beautiful. They have a little parking space so they will assist you to help park your car too. Ryokan will also provide you with the key for access to the 9 public baths in Shibu Onsen.
