EVERYTHING about Chalet Alpenrose, Misurina, and Ida (the host) exceeded our expectations. Simply put, this place was WORTH IT on so many levels. We mixed up our travel dates, and Ida *offered* to adjust our booking for no extra charge. She gave us fantastic recommendations for hikes that were appropriate for three (distinct) hiking levels among our trio of travelers plus great suggestions for food, how to buy stamps, etc. And, we got lucky with Misurina, like wow. It was so tranquil, affordable, and simple to navigate compared to many of the charming-yet-intense places we've traveled through in Italy (we've been to Italy twice now). Truly, Misurina felt like home in the best ways (we're from a mountainous, somewhat rural region in North America), and Ida's hospitality and recommendations played a major role. Beyond what I've already noted, the apartment was GREAT for a couple and additional adult (one older parent) - plenty of room to spread out, truly amazing views, and gorgeous, Scandanavian-esque simple design. Every day, Ida brought us a basket with all sorts of things for breakfast, including fresh eggs we could cook to our taste, fresh meats and cheese, warm bread and croissants, and more. Also, having a hot water kettle and a dishwasher were *so* welcome after almost 2 weeks of travel in hotels. There are also nice, free laundry facilities on-site, and Ida helped us navigate the multi-lingual machines and get the right detergent (we did not initially buy the right stuff on our own!). And, there's a handy drying rack in the room, as well as lots of storage space. Ida also let us have a later check-out time so that we could go on one last, half-day hike into a wilderness area nearby before leaving. I'm probably forgetting things, but the short story is: if you can, skip Cortina and head for Chalet Alpenrose.

Dimora Al Bivacco is set in Pieve di Cadore in the Veneto Region, 32 km from Cortina d'Ampezzo. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. Great accommodation - beautiful large room, very clean. Very good breakfast with a large selection. Giorgio was very helpful to provide all the information and recommendation we needed, thanks!

Breakfast was set out in appealing buffet style, with local yogurt, cereals, breads, jam, honey, cheese, sliced meat, and homemade cakes. Seated the cozy breakfast room, given choice of coffee or tea, and even offered eggs & speck (local prosciutto), as if we had any more room! Public areas and rooms were a gorgeous mix of old (stone floors, repurposed vintage wood) and new (hi-design shower stall and bathroom fixtures). Hosts Anna and Francesco couldn't have been more welcoming, providing tea when we arrived from the cold and rainy day, and spending time to chat and give recommendations.

Located in Colle Santa Lucia town centre, Cesa dele Angele offers traditionally furnished apartments with mountain views and free WiFi. Rooms with an amazing forrest/valley view, managed by a lovely family. Rooms were extremely clean and ideally sized. Hotel located at the heart of the small village. Free and easy parking.
