Owners are nice people :) I liked the appartment its a little strange, but its cool though. The owner is an architect, and the building is i guess an experiment. Its very compact and does go vertical. I didnt do any cooking but the kitchen seems complete. There is no need for cooking restaurant around the corner is pretty good.

A well run hostel by a “hands on” owner who has put a lot of care in creating and managing the place. Both the owner and his staff were all very friendly and interested in chatting with their guests. The owner actually works the day shift (at least the days I was there) so he was very present to ensure a good stay. There was also staff there 24 hours a day. Chillout Hostel had two common areas. One area was in front of the building (but fenced in and behind the secured entrance gate) and was a nice place to enjoy breakfast or coffee. The second area was in the back of the building (and also enclosed). There were also seven guest rooms, a combination of dorms and private rooms. The social scene was nice, but certainly not a “party hostel.” The common areas (particularly the back common area) and kitchen were closed off at 22:00 to ensure a quiet night. They reopened at 7:00 the next morning. I found the neighborhood to be safe, certainly safer than other parts of San Jose. There were restaurants and grocery stores with a few blocks of the hostel. The hostel was a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the city center.

The place was much bigger and more private than I expected; it was an entire private apartment with a kitchen area, bathroom, living room space, etc. which was incredible for the price.

Very Beautiful and quite place located near the city. We loved the interior of house with beautiful lush green garden in the middle of courtyard where you can enjoy the morning sun. I did yoga for couple of mornings and had coffee outside. You can also enjoy the library room facing outside the garden. Shirani was generous for letting me swap the books as well, since i didn't finish reading before i left. There is 2 full kitchen with fridge, coffee maker, toaster and micro wave. I made chicken curry and Tibetan beef dish with potato. So you guess, what you can make? There is a large grocery store and ATM in just same block of the house. You can catch the Taxi right by the store. Me and wife stayed for 4 nights before we had back to home. It was perfect for us to relax, recharge and recover from long fun trip in Costa Rica. We are in coffee business and Shirani helped us to find a small coffee farm in short notice. We are very thankful for his support. Shirani is so knowledge about Costa Rica and also about the places he have travelled. I personally learned a lot that i can't find in the book. If you give him sometime and have any questions or request. He will try to figure out for you. This is a gem in the city of San Jose. If you are flying to or leaving from San Jose, You gotta check this place out. Specially, the services is amazing for the price you pay. You can't get this in Air BNB or anywhere.
