I've never been in a more rustic environment than in Mendatica. It's the ideal retreat from busy city life! You can walk for days in the forests without encountering anyone, see lots of wildlife and starry skies. The cabin is big and very well maintained, and beautifully decorated. The kitchenette is well-equipped, with pans, pots and bialettis, an induction cooking plate, a fridge and an electric oven. The owner, Piero, is very helpful and friendly. Something to keep in mind: Mendatica is very small. Consider cooking yourself (nearest restaurant is 15 min by car) and visiting a supermarket before going up in the mountains. But there is also a very small shop in the village for some basic groceries (pasta, passata, canned foods,...)

Everything. We arrived to great warmth and kindness after a very hard hiking day. Monica offered cold birra and the most perfect pane to date. I almost cried entering her kitchen- everything - from kindness, to kitchen, to the food Monica creates, to the bedrooms are beautiful, full of artistry and heart.

An exceptional view of the mountains in a picturesque village. The charming traditional house had all the amenities you could desire. The hosts were very friendly and helpful; they waited for us at the appartement with a burning fire in the wood stove. The village is a great place offering a lot of hiking trails; among them Mt Saccarello, a unique view of both Italian Ligurian Alps and the French Maritimes Alps.
