We stayed at Royal Lion Hotel during our trip to Kandy and had a great experience! The rooms were spacious and clean—just wow! Large spotlessly clean rooms located in a quiet area with mounting views rooftop pool. All for an affordable price. But what really stood out was the exceptional staff. They made us feel welcome in that serene and genuine Sri Lanka way. Charuka patiently help get us settled in with all we needed when we were all flustered at reception and demanding of pillows and all kinds of things. Mahesh told us about Sri Lankan Buddhist wisdom as he walked us to the laundry and Spa. Sathsara regaled us with photos of him of the elephant at the Buddhist procession. he also gave us great recommendations for sites to see with enthusiasm.

Nice ambience with a homely feeling with great assistance from caretaker Mr. Nalini and delicious food by Mr. Chellayya. The brinjal moju was amazing. Constant follow-up and updates from Kanchana is highly appreciated. The mornings are welcome by peacock sound from the bushes from the rear of the residence.

The staff are super friendly and room fee includes breakfast at the other good hotel which is really good. The restaurant is by the river and you can watch elephants bathing in the river while having breakfast. You can also use all the facilities including swimming pool at the hotel. And they also offer free tuk tuk to the hotel where you can watch elephants bathing. Also free transportation to the nearest bus stand where you can take bus to Kandy and Colombo.
