fantatsic alps style accomodation. fab breakfast, the pool, the views, the staff. all around fantastic place with great pool and breakfast terrace views. Safe moto parking, roof terace and sauna, the lot! Great place to depart in the moring to Grosslockner, north directon or to stay in if the opposite diretion. Staff specialy patient and professional. Will definitevly go back again, for a longer stay too.

Beautiful, just perfectly beautiful!! Quiet, super clean, most comfortable beds. So much love and care goes into this hotel from the owner. The „secret“ garden where one can relax. Tucked away but yet close enough to Lienz and beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was out of this world; it was really good! The dinner too.

We were staying here before riding our motorcycle up the Großglockner Pass - only about 30/40 mins away. Location is right in the town centre, with bars and restaurants only a few moments walk away. Free motorcycle parking in secure underground car park. Fantastic breakfast choice and quiet, comfortable rooms. The receptionist, Elizabeth, is fantastic - she went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable & help us out with restaurant / take away recommendations & loaned us an umbrella too! A great place to stay.

Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar.

Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar. It's a must when travelling to Austria. Easy to get to by train from Germany and from within Austria. A small town easily navigated on foot. It's stunning. It was a shame the gondola was not operating though.

I grew up nearby.

I grew up nearby. It's a beautiful, small city in the middle of the Alps. Suitable for Summer and Winter holiday. Check out the restaurants outside of the city e.g., Im Stadl, Hollunderhof or Hotel Tristachersee.

Pretty town.

Pretty town. I enjoyed the weekend market and the alpine coaster. The highlight was the castle and its amazing art galleries and museum. You can find anything you need in the village in terms of shops and there are endless great walks to do in the mountains or along the Isel River. But you might run out of things to do. The town itself is for eating and shopping. The free audio walking tour was not great. I stayed in a spa hotel during a fall snowstorm so I walked in the mornings and used the wellness areas in the afternoon. I went out to the Aguntum, the site of an ancient Roman village. The archeology site is not that exciting given that there's a highway running through it but the museum was interesting and the man working there sat and talked with me as there were only two other people who showed up that day (it was off season). Having a staff member explain the history of the place was interseting.

Lienz is a beautiful spot, a bit off the path that most American travelers visit. Don’t spend all your time in the bigger cities and busy sights. Austria is full of small town gems and amazing countryside.

Lienz is a beautiful small town with several good restaurants, a pleasant downtown and an outstanding location. There is not a lot of international tourism, which is a releif. We were there to hike, and since the weather was quite unsettled, it was very helpful be in a location that accessed several different ranges. We found that the weather north of the Hohe Tauern (about 45 min north) was often quite different from Lienz itself (and the Lienzer Dolomiten), and yet different again from Italy in the vicinity of Cortina (60-90 min south). This provided many opportunities to optimize the hike-weather combination and to try different foods.

It’s the perfect little city to use as a base for exploring...

It’s the perfect little city to use as a base for exploring this area is eastern Tyrall. Call there’s plenty to do here in any season. In the winter there is skiing, paragliding, cross-country skiing, walking through the beautiful valley. In the summer there is rafting, mountaineering, lots of hiking and other outdoor activities. The people are really wonderful and friendly and there are many other places to visit nearby. Just beautiful scenery everywhere you look!!! We found numerous delicious restaurants including Kirchenwirt and Adler Stube. We also absolutely loved the café at the top of Zettersfeld… The ski area. It was so cozy and cute and the scenery was just stunning 360° views of the Alps. Great food. We went to paragliding with the Bruno Girstmair Flight school. Incredible experience. Flying above the alps. Words cannot even describe it

This as my second time staying in this hotel, in the past 5 years. The rooms in the old building part have been refurbished ad they look good now with natural wood furnitures. Altough I found the room a bit cold, some personal heating would be great there (even in the summer it get cold in the mountains). But there were a few points where the hotel was missing on service quality

Very welcoming and accomodating hotel with GREAT staff (from reception to restaurant to cleaning!) and a very good breakfast and dinner option. Would definitely come back and would definitely recommend to families with small children. If hotels feel like a challenge with young ones, this hotel will take away that worry.

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The staff were very kind, our room was big and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was perfect. The view is absolutely amazing to Lienz and to the surrounding mountains. The garden is also beautiful with cute ponies to pet.

A cozy hotel, perfectly situated close to Schloss Bruck. Clean, modern Alpine style. Our room had a huge balcony with a panorama view of the mountains. Excellent breakfast, kind and attentive staff, big parking area in front of the hotel. Very recommended!
