Situated on the waterfront amidst natural landscape, the Fox and Hounds Inn is a 1-minute drive from Port Arthur Historic Site and a 15-minute drive from Fortescue Bay. Location is amazing Facilities were very good and food at the bistro was really nice.
Situated on Garden Point Road, Port Arthur Holiday Park, the winner of the 2019, 2018, and 2017 TAS Tourism Awards, offers both cabins and tents, all with water views. I stayed in the dorms during winter. The room was very clean and the AC in the room was able to warm it up well. There are lots of wallabies around in the evening which is very nice. Shared bathrooms were also good, clean and hot water was actually hot. Location is very good as well, close to the historic site and mid-way between the major hikes: Cape Raoul and Cape Hauy. Initially I only booked for one night but I felt really good there that night that I decided to stay one more night. The staff was helpful, I got prompt after-hours help when the entrance gate had a small glitch.
Set in Port Arthur, 1.2 km from Stewarts Bay Beach, Port Arthur Motor Inn offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a shared lounge. Our room was basic but very clean. The location was amazing as we overlooked the historic site. Perfect to pop “home” for a bit then return later. The staff was very friendly and laid back making us feel welcome. The dining room overlooks the site as well and the food was exceptional for dinner. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as it was continental- nothing hot served. Very comfortable pillows, bed had an electric blanket to take the chill off. Really happy with this motel. Would highly recommend.
Only 750 metres from the Port Arthur Historical Site via a private gate, these spacious self-contained villas features satellite TV, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and tea/coffee making facilities. - Peaceful and serene surrounding - kitchen is well equipped for cooking - Rooms are comfortable and very clean
This waterfront holiday home offers self-contained accommodation and features 2 bathrooms. It is situated on a quiet point surrounded by beach and trees. Good location, clean and neat. It provides all necessary facilities. Cooking and washing are very convenient. Beds and sofas are comfortable. Love it!
Located in Port Arthur, 3 km from Port Arthur and 32 km from Dunalley, the cove... On the rocks at Port Arthur offers a private beach area and air conditioning. Great location with magnificent views over the bay; immaculately clean and comprehensively equipped. Met on our arrival with warm welcoming introduction to the apartment and facilities. Comfortable bed and quiet location made for wonderful sleep. Plenty of supplies for the morning including freshly laid eggs that unfortunately time didn't allow us to make use of. Minutes from Port Arthur yet quiet and serene.
The introductory tour should have accessed the church, and sent us away to explore from there. Otherwise too much standing and talking. Very beasy to get around PT Arthur in fact the complimentary bus should go up to the higher level parking at end of day.
Port Arthur was one of my definites when visiting Tasmania. I had envisaged spending three hours there based on their advertised opening time of 9am. However, when I arrived, the times had been changed to 10am opening time. Two hours was not enough time, unfortunately. What I did see, though, was fantastic. The tour guides were informative, the views stunning and the conservation of the area top-notch. I really liked the interactive cards that gave visitors the chance to learn individual histories. I definitely need to go back.
Fantastic staff, and an amazing place to visit. We took a couple of tours and a cruise to the Island of the dead. Port Arthur thank you for a great time and thank you to the lovely Robyn at the front desk for all your help. Over and above our expectations.
We arrived at 10 and left at 5pm as it was closing. We could have spent more time there, although we did see everything. Towards the end, we were just getting an overview as there wasn't time to see as much detail as we would have liked. Introductory tour was great. We had to opt for one of two that were on at 10.30. It would have been good to be able to do both as we felt me missed out on lots of good information. We also did the Isle of the Dead tour - again excellent, but it felt short and brief. Would have loved some more detail! The entry ticket does last for 2 days but until we had been there we didn't appreciate that might be needed. We also stayed the night before to get there early and had accommodation booked in Hobart that night so couldn't make use of the 2nd day option.
Easily a full day, preferably overnight to incorporate the evening ghost tour. Magnificent visitors centre with interpretation and restaurant onsite. The ruins have been fastidiously renovated and cottages are open to browse through with replica furniture from the period. Lovely gardens. A small bus can give the elderly or infirm a lift around to save walking. Pay the extra and do the boat cruise to Island where convict children worked (and died). Overall a fabulous day or overnight trip approx. 1 1/2 hrs drive from Hobart with plenty of sightseeing on way.
Not real impressed with the front desk, thought they could have been more informative. But loved the guys driving the buggy, they were both great, and especially the second day, and he took us all over the place, and told us so much. Just wish I could remember his name. Over all was a wonderful experience, and such a beautiful place to visit.
