We travelled throughout Belgium and this was by far the best value for money with the added bonus of it being a lovely room with a shower plus a bath (which is rare) , a great included breakfast, friendly staff and fantastic location.

Our overnight stay was very comfortable, and refreshing for the next day's travels. We really appreciated the Last Post service in the town of Ypres, especially as we are Aussies for whom Belgium is very thankful. We did not realise the Australian soldiers' value to this small country.

What a beautiful town with friendly residents and a tragic history. The Last Post Ceremony held at the Menin Gate (8pm every evening since 1928) was a poignant reflection of the horrors of war, and it is moving that it is so well attended so many years later. The Gate itself lists the names of 54,000 Allied soldiers who died and have no marked grave - that number is on top of the many war cemeteries dotted around the region. It makes you pause and think. The bars and restaurants we went to were all lovely. Food is plentiful and delicious, beers are fabulous. The chocolatiers that we visited (not enough in my opinion - we ran out of time) were all great and we got a fair few free samples!! I will definitely come back when I can as I didn't have enough time to visit the museums.

Beautiful city of Ypres should be on everyone's bucket list.

Beautiful city of Ypres should be on everyone's bucket list. Despite the history this is such a charming place to visit. The Menin Gate and the Last Post, held at 8pm every evening, are an absolute must. The buildings are stunning and hard to believe the devastation that took place during WW1. Look out for the brass keys on the pavement, which mark civilians who lost their lives during the conflict.

Beautiful historic city. Wonderful restaurants. Very moving ceremony at the Menin Gate. The Flemish stew at Captain Cook restaurant was superb. Book a table though as gets extremely busy. The cobbled streets are very pretty but elderly parents found them tricky to walk on, far from a negative it just took longer!

Ypres is very interesting, especially if history is of interest. At the Menen Gate each night at 2000 hours the last post is played by buglers from the fire service in tribute to those who fell during the Ypres battles. This has been happening daily since 1928 with very few omissions. I have attended on many occasions but it never fails to stir the emotions. The Flanders museum in the Cloth Hall is well worth a visit.

The hotel did it's best - the staff were great, friendly and efficient - but the rooms were marginal in that the A/C didn't really work and the beds weren't particularly comfortable. And a word to the wise - AVOID THE YPRES CAR RALLY WEEKEND AT ALL COSTS! The rally literally overwhelms the city and occupies the entire main square - roads are closed (seemingly randomly) to accommodate the rally making any exploration of the area virtually impossible. Added closed to an additional 100kms to my travel just trying to get into and out of the city - and had to break several traffic laws just to find a way to get to the hotel. This rally is an incredibly inconvenience - hope the economic upside to the city is worth the hit it takes to normal tourism in peak season.

A place full of history, but associated with some of the...

A place full of history, but associated with some of the darkest times, it is vibrant, visually impressive, with an incredible sense of it's own journey. I also visited some of the restored trenches from WW1 as well as the Menin Gate and the 8pm playing of the Last Post, which was a very emotional experience. It's a place everyone should visit, as it helps us remember why we say "Lest we forget". The people that do the work to keep that history for future generations are incredible.

This hotel is in a perfect location in the centre of Ypres, easy access to restaurants and the In Flanders Fields Museum. The Tourist Information Office is right next to the museum and the Menin Gate is also an easy walk. There are many other WWI sites of interest in the local area. The owner is very welcoming and has all the information you would need for Ypres. The rooms are very spacious, clean and have some real cool lighting. The breakfast is outstanding and again the owner could not be more helpful. Its a great place to stay.

We have stayed here before . A hotel with an excellent location, secure parking and lovely, well designed rooms with quality linens and towels . The staff are welcoming and helpful providing maps and discount deals, all making your stay a really enjoyable experience. The hotel is wonderfully quiet and peaceful despite being right in the centre Ypres.

The breakfasts were continental of the highest order. The room was superb with a very comfortable bed. Nancy, the owner, was very warm and friendly, making us feel at home from the moment she opened the door to us. The location, just a ten-minute walk from the Market Square in Ypres, was perfect for our stay in the city.

The location was great. Parking is easy as you can park just outside the hotel on the road or in the market Square. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was modern, a good size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable!
